AP — The son of a prominent Iranian conservative who ran against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009 has died in a Dubai hotel in an apparent suicide, a Dubai police official and an Iranian website said Sunday. The police official said the body, with a slit left wrist, was found late Friday by hotel staff in an 18th floor room. There was no evidence of an attack and the death is being investigated as a suicide, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief media. Dubai police did not provide further details on the man's identity, but the Iranian website Tabnak, which is close to conservative Mohsen Rezaei, said that the politician's son Ahmad Rezaei died in Dubai's Gloria Hotel. It called the death "suspicious," but offered no other details.

Sad
by Masoud Kazemzadeh on Sun Nov 13, 2011 02:16 PM PSTAhmad Rezaee was in pain for the crimes his father and his ilk inflicted on the Iranian people. Perhaps, this suicide was his way of getting back at the criminal actions of his fascist father. Ahmad knew the mass torture, mass rape, and mass murders of the terrorist regime.
Ahmad had escaped Iran and received asylum in the U.S. Then he went back. He should have stayed in the U.S. and continued his struggle against the terrorist regime. There is a possibility that Ahmad might have escaped again and was planning to come to the U.S.; and thus was assassinated by the vf regime.
My condolences to all who loved him and were his friends.

Of the "Sura"......
by Tavana on Sun Nov 13, 2011 02:03 PM PSTFYI: Surahs in Ghoron are made up of differnt numbers of Ayats & they are like Chapters in a book. And there is a number of Ayats in Ghoron warning the mankind of committing crimes & the resulting (mostly unexpected) consequences/punishments. When for example Mohsen Rezaie was in charge of the Sepah & was dragging the bloody Iran-Iraq war, i.e. the continuing murders of young Iranian/Iraqis soldiers, he would have never ever imagined one day he would his own son this way.
But as for the current situation in our country the below Ayat tells the whole story:
"Say: It is He alone who has the power to let loose upon you suffering from above you or from beneath your feet, or to confound you with mutual discord and let you taste the fear of one another. Behold how many facets We give to these messages, so that they might understand the truth. (Ghoron 6:65)"

Even after all this time ...
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Nov 13, 2011 11:03 AM PSTThe trouble is that the victim in question is not Mohsen Rezaie per se but his son.
The kid is equally a victim as anyone else who is driven to kill himself or herself.
Whatever reason behind such a desperate gesture, the person who has paid the price is the boy even if the father and mother naturally must also feel the pain in their own way.
But that is not the point.
We should distinguish how we feel about the regime and their henchmen Mohsen Rezaie having been one:
Iran Negah - TV Debate: Mohsen Rezaei & Banisadr
(Part of a TV debate in 1980 on anti-revolutionary elements in Iran, between Mohsen Rezaei, then head of revolutionary Guards and Banisadr, then president of Iran who fled the country after his failure against Rezaei and his confederates.)
and the predicament of the nation at large. In a Post IRI Iran the innocent kids of former criminals are as much part of the country as those who were victims of the regime. I have no idea why this kid killed himself. It may not even be political but I don't think anyone can or should rejoice from the death of a young man no matter what his or her pedigree. All these tragic stories which keep coming out of Iran only illustrate the sad and hopelessness that has characterized life in Iran for the past 3 decades.
As for Mr. Mohsen Rezaie ...
Well I suppose he may now understand how it feels for a family to live in grief ...

I liked all the comments.
by Babak K. on Sun Nov 13, 2011 11:02 AM PSTI liked all the comments. Make no mistake this is a tragedy and it is rough for a father to lose a child. The following is a comment I got from an Iranian site and a person by name Kaveh Ahangar:

by Oon Yaroo on Sun Nov 13, 2011 10:07 AM PSTOne has to be a parent to feel the pain of losing a child ...!
Mortality and tragedy don't discriminate against race, gender, creed, wealth, or elites!
No one knows the exact circumstances behind the death of this man but one wonders what his influential father and family must be going through!
The pain, agony, anger, hate, frustration, and helplessness on the part of the parents for not being able to determine the actual cause of death specially if foul play by the rival gangs was involved!
I wonder if Mr. Mohsen Rezaie, as the ex-commander of the IRGC and an influential figure in the IRR oligarchy, who grieves through his son's death should ponder upon all the victims of the past 33 years of the criminal regime which he was an architect of, helped, and supported!?
God bless all those who have gone!
My condolences to the Father and Mother.....
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sun Nov 13, 2011 08:59 AM PSTOf every single bright, brave Iranian young man and woman who had the guts and courage to stand up and fight the criminal islamic regime and sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom of Iran from the clutches islamist Fascism, and murdered by likes of Reazaai and his ilk.
The difference between those brave souls and this "Son Of Bassiji" was to a great degree in their genetic make up. One Gene leads the young man to militant action against the Islamist fascism and heroic death at motherland, the other Gene leads to a cowardly suicide at a hotel, at a foreign land, whilst sorrounded with stolen iranian petro dollars.
