Democracy, the long path or the shortcut

by areyo barzan on

Dear Masoud

Again all I can see in your postings is retarded rhetoric’s and empty slogans of the past.

I prefer to be realistic and look at the situation the way it is and not the way I wish for it to be.

I believe every single person posting their opinions here want democracy. None of us here if in the right state of mind would ever prefer dictatorship over democracy.

However to achieve any goal there is a right way and a wrong way and that is where our paths apart

In my humble opinion the path to democracy is a long slow process and not an overnight flash.

As far as I know and read the world history NONE and I mean NONE of the revolutions in the world have ever led into democracy by itself. As a few good examples I can mention, Cuba, Russia and China, all of which lead to dictatorships and tyranny of the likes of Mao, Castro and Stalin. Even the French after revolution the country have ended up in hands of one Napoleon Bonaparte and we all know about how democratic he was.

If we could bring ourselves to have a logical look of these scenarios, we can then see that this was the only logical out come as well.

You see this is in the nature of revolutions. They are illogical impulsive and almost always born out of frustration and that is a recopy for disaster. You see, to have a democratic system one first needs to understand what a democracy is and more importantly to understand ones responsibly toward the society and how to behave in a democratic manner.

This is why even in case of France revolution it did not end in democracy until the French people started to behave in a democratic way and went through that slow painstaking process of evolution. On the other hand in UK there was no revolution, but the people felt the need to change and went through the same processes and got the same result or may be even better one by keeping their heritage intact. Although these are two different types of democracy but they are democratic in the nature and that is how it should be. Democracy is not one size fits all. Every democracy has to be a refraction of the cultures and people of that society.

I believe the path to democracy is a process of evolution and not revolution. It is very easy to create scapegoats and blame all the problems on one individual or even one party. But the bottom line is that in no society will democracy be achievable unless by every member of that society acting responsibly and respecting each others point of view. Other wise we could be in the long hall of going trough the same vicious circle of replacing one dictator with another.

Even today, although I Absolutely HATE the IRI and everything it stands for, especially its leader, I am not sure if another revolution is an answer. Not because I think the IRI is up to the job but because I believe that we as a nation are not still ready for democracy

Now! I know this statement makes a lot of people furious but to make you see my logic I set you with a humble test

As far as I know democracy means freedom of opposition and YES that means sometimes people whom you do not like and might have been fighting with all you life might be voted by the people into the office.

So think about this! What if tomorrow in a free fair election people of Iran decided to bring back the constitutional Monarchy (Mashrooteh) and make RP the new ceremonial king? Just like UK and Norway. What if they decided to have a democratic Republic select him or Mosavi or Rajavi or even the leader of communist part as their president? What if they even decided to keep the Islamic Republic reforming the constitution and just punishing those who committed crimes against people. Then what? Do you still respect the will of people and let democracy follow its course, or will you start personal attack and name calling. You do not need to answer me just be honest to yourself.

On the other hand by what I gathered from the postings here, there are many little dictators amongst us who can not even stand those people who think different to them. They can not allow anyone to select son of the person whom they fought 30 years ago as their leader. Not because they have any constructive criticism and legitimate questions but because they are still fighting the battle of 30 years ago.

Today they resort to baseless acccusations and personal insults and tomorrow when they are in power they will resort to torture rape and TV confessions.

And this is where the problem lays. That is why I believed then that Shah was not responsible for the entire problem, the same way that I believe today that khamene-ey who is not and can not be responsible for all the problems today.

It is true that he is a brutal dictator with no respect for human right or even life. But remember that it is not him in the prisons who tortures rapes and kills his own countrymen. It is not him in the streets who beats and shoots the very people he to an oath to protect. But it is the other Iranians who through their own free will and just because they can not bear any voice of opposition questioning their beliefs or challenging their interests and authority, are committing those heinous crimes in his name.

It is very easy to scapegoat khamene-ey or Shah and get rid of one or even bring down IRI, just like we did with monarchy. But until we defeat that little dictator within ourselves and start respecting opposition, noting will fundamentally change. We might be able to change the face of dictatorship but not its nature

Masoud Kazemzadeh

Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was a PUPPET

by Masoud Kazemzadeh on

Esmal 3 kaleh jaan,

I don’t understand why you confuse so many things.

1. Everybody should condemn Khomeini sending 12 year olds to the war. What this has anything to do with the argument that had the Shah accepted free elections in 1977, we would have had a transition to democracy in 1977.

2. What in the world Khomeini’s promises of free electricity and water in 1979 got anything to do with the Shah’s brutal dictatorship between 1953 and 1979?

3. Gen. de Gaulle cooperated with the British and Americans openly against the Vichy regime imposed on France by Nazi Germany. Mohammad Reza Shah was the equivalent of the Vichy regime, a puppet regime serving the interests of a foreign power.

De Gaulle was a nationalist who fought for French independence from German-Vichy regime. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi collaborated with colonial powers UK against Iranian nationalists and re-imposed colonial subjugation of Iran. THAT is why the FIRST slogan and demand of the revolution was ESTEGHLAL, independence.

De Gaulle was NOT a puppet.  He cooperated with the UK and US.  Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was a PUPPET.  He collaborated with foreign colonial powers against Iranian nationalists to subjugate Iran.  Mohammad Reza Pahlavi literally gave the oil that JM had nationalized to foreign powers!!!!!

In conclusion, every decent human being on the planet has to condemn the fundamentalist terrorist regime.

If Iranian democrats had won in 1953, we would not have suffered from 50+ years of brutal tyranny by Pahlavi and fundamentalist regimes. If Shah was not so evil and selfish and accepted to leave in 1977, we would have had a transition to democracy in Iran in 1977.

Couple of responses

by Sohrab_Ferdows on

Dear esmal3kaleh

Dear Mr. Ghiasi,

Dear aryo barzan
Thank you for your comment and contribution. You might be aware that Dr. Mehdi Semsar wrote an article in Ferdowsi magazine during late 1978 or early 1979 in which he extensively analysed involvement of different groups in the so called democratic movement of people in those days. His article ran in four weeks of that magazine and in one part of that article, he gave a detailed account about Khomeini's book which was called "kaashef-ol-ghota'a" and later (after Islamic Revolution) was published under name of "velayat-e faghih". Anyone who has read that article would see an image of Islamic Republic of 10 years later very clearly. It was because of that article that I decided to find and read that book (which I did) but during the same time, I would see some people of all classes who were looking at the moon to see the picture of "emaam"!

My point is that, I personally would not lay the blame for what happened on a single person or single party but making such claims as Mr. Kazemzadeh and some other people are doing, is far from realistic.

Best regards to all

Sohrab_Ferdows

Dear Masoud, you are

by Sohrab_Ferdows on

Dear Masoud, you are entitled to your views which of course (in my view) are not based on some realistic version of history but there are a few points that I like to clarify for readers here. You wrote:

".... Dr. Sanjabi in early November 1978 accepted to take the position of prime minister on 2 conditions. First, the Shah to leave the country. Second, the control over the armed forces given to the prime minister. The Shah refused both conditions. "

Those requests (if true) were bound to be rejected for many reasons. Anyone with so many of assassination and coup attempts against him by different groups of people from which, one came with assistance of the very group that Mr. Sanjabi was member of, would do the same especially because army would never accept to be lead by someone like Mr. Sanjabi with no experience in army and not enough experience even in politics. Mr. Sanjabi, most probably did not have any confidence in himself to be able to lead the country and brought in those conditions which he knew would be rejected, to have an excuse. Dr. Sanjabi's views about Khomeini which is reflected in Mr. Broumand's interview clearly indicate that, unlike Dr. Bakhtiar who rightfully warned about "na'aleyn dictatorship", he had no realistic understanding of what was happening in Iran in those days. As we all know, Shah accepted the condition of leaving the country by Bakhtiar and left all the power in his hand but at the end, it was the army which did what they did and it did not really matter who was at the top at that time (with one exception about Shah himself). The rest of what you wrote in this part is about your personal views and slogans which I am very familiar with and of course do not agree with you in most cases. You also wrote:

"Khomeini was unknown. ...It is easy TODAY to say "well Khomeini lied." But in late 1978, early 1979, that reality was not clear."

Absolutely wrong assertions. Khomeini was known to some politicians (and even non-politicians) who were not out of touch with reality and among them was late Dr. Bakhtiar. The day that Dr. Broumand spoke to Mr. Sanjabi and Mr. Frouhar and told them clearly not to support Khomeini, he was still in Paris (Mr. Broumand stopped his financial support right after he came to that conclusion after meeting Khomeini for second time). This means they received best information available to anyone from a source which no one else had access to at that time. So this excuse that they did not know Khomeini is not acceptable at all. My point is not to blame everything on these people because as I mentioned earlier, I cannot be certain that even if Sanjabi would do something different than what he did, would make any difference in outcome.

Nothing else that you wrote has any effect on the value and credibility of Mohammadgholi Majd as a remnant of Kadjars who has attempted to use his skills, status and position to distort the history of the shameful era which his family ruled Iran and drove the nation to such a level of misery to prepare the ground for growing the culture of servitude and hand/foot kissing among Iranians.

Best regards

Sohrab

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it

by areyo barzan on

Dear Masoud

After reading your comments I am afraid I must say you are definitely one of those (if not the main one) who lives in their own parallel universe. Now! Before the floodgates of insults, accusations and sarcasm opens. Let me clear one thing. I am by no mean a monarchist, but if you do not want to believe it, then that it is up to you. As you said your self people believe what they want to believe.  However the point here is that when someone posts a response almost as big as the article itself just to recycle the old slogans and retarded rhetorics of 30 years ago, in order to evade personal or party responsibility or deny the mistakes that were made, there is something definitely and drastically wrong.  You have mentioned that Shah was a dictator and he used others to get his own way and then disposed of them. Granted I accept that totally. However, can’t the same charge be applied for the rest of us. Just remember that I was there in the streets when it was all happening. My one most frequently asked question from the protestors, specially the communists was that: “why are you following Khomeini and why are you chanting Jomhoori ye Eslami. Isn’t that in conflicts with your beliefs?” And the answer I heard over and over again. “We are following Khomeini because the masses listen to him. He is a good tool to get rid of Shah. After the shah is gone we can then get rid of or marginalize him easily”. Ironically however, none of them thought that may be, just may be Khomeini have thought of the same strategy and was using them, to be disposed when served their purpose. But To be fair to Khomeini from his very first speech that I heard in 1978 he was campaigning for an Islamic Republic. But if you and your comrades choose to ignore his words and lived in a world of your own, that was your problem and not his.  You mentioned that in 1979 no one knew what kind of person Khomeini was I am so so so sorry mate, but that is the most lame, lazy and irresponsible excuse that I have ever heard. To know Khomeini one only needed to read one of his books or listen (and I mean really listen) to a few of his speeches in Najaf.  If such excuse were made by the average illiterate man in the street then I could have some sympathy. (Although in those days the average man in the street was more concerned with how much oil money he will receive every day). But from someone like yourself who waves around the books from likes of Nafalachi, I expected much more.  People like you should have done their homework properly before leading the rest of the country into anarchy. Just by reading abut people like Modarres, Kashaani and Navvab Safavi or even the mullahs who were virtually running the Ghajar palaces, and their negative impacts on our history or the direction of our country, you would have had a very good idea on the kind of animal you were dealing with. But instead people like you chose to live in their own dreams and wishful thoughts.  Even in the one book you read you cynically choose to ignore all the main issues of the interview and the points of conflict with the West, raised by Shah, and instead focus on the way tea was served (which seems to have been omitted in my English version of the book) How sad and how cheap indeed.

Now don’t get me wrong Shah was a dictator and made many mistakes. His biggest mistake was, not trusting his own people and believing that he could protect them from their own stupidity and ignorance. If only one year earlier he listened to the advice by Bakhtiar and Sanjaabi and opened the political atmosphere the disaster of 1979 would have never happened.

He should have let the communists and the Islamises have their debates with the nationalists and trusted the people to find their own way. But he didn’t.  He thought by dictatorship and force he could shut them all up and protect the country he obviously loved so much. He made a huge error of judgment and for that he bears a huge responsibility towards what is happening in our country today.  Having said that, his mistakes and responsibility does not diminish our mistakes and definitely does not set us free from our responsibilities. It does not make our failures any less disasteros.  We should have really listened to all arguments. We should have investigated more and opened our eyes to the facts of whom we were following and to where he is leading us, instead of idealistic wishful thinking or acting impulsively  Please note that these arguments are not and should not be about point scoring or pointing finger of accusation towards each other. But it is and should be about having a honest look at ourselves, accepting our errors and learning from our past mistakes, so that the next generation would not have to go through what we went and repeat our mistakes by following the likes of Mosavi and Karoobi.  Just remember: Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it

For emsal3kaleh and Sohrab

by Masoud Kazemzadeh on

Dear Sohrab,

1. You are simply wrong on basic facts. Dr. Sanjabi in early November 1978 accepted to take the position of prime minister on 2 conditions. First, the Shah to leave the country. Second, the control over the armed forces given to the prime minister. The Shah refused both conditions.

BOTH Dr. Sanjabi and Dr. Bakhtiar were decent and democratic men. The question was how to save the country. The problem was that the Shah was truly an evil, brutal, tyrannical man. The problem was that the options were bad options. Could one cooperate with an evil man like Mohammad Reza Pahlavi who had proven numerous times that his evil nature of using others for his nefarious and selfish goals? We know that again and again, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi had used others during crises and then got rid of them and re-imposed his brutal tyranny. He did this with Qavam, Gen. Zahedi, .....

We were certain that Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was puppet of foreign powers.

We were certain that Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was a dictator.

We were certain that Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was repressive and had tortured many.

We were certain that one could not trust the words of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Khomeini was unknown. He was saying that he supported freedom, and democracy, and human rights. That he did not want to rule and that he would go to Qom and engage in religious activities in his seminary.

It is easy TODAY to say "well Khomeini lied." But in late 1978, early 1979, that reality was not clear.

BOTH Dr. Sanjabi and Dr. Bakhtiar were men of great honor, decency, and honesty. Neither was opportunistic. Neither was power hungry. Both could have had power if they collaborated with either the Shah’s tyrannical regime or Khomeini’s tyrannical regime. However, both great men stood for PRINCIPLES of democracy, freedom, and human rights. BOTH risked their lives in order to save Iran and the Iranian people from two evil men (Shah and Khomeini).

Unfortunately, both Dr. Sanjabi and Dr. Bakhtiar failed. What is lessons to be learned. We need to make pro-democracy forces stronger and the anti-democratic forces (monarchists and fundamentalists) weaker.

2. There are large number of documents of the massive stealing by the Pahlavis. Dr. Majd’s SCHOLARLY book is one source. Whether your view of him is correct or false in interesting but is not germane on whether the documents he presents show that Reza Shah stole all those stuff. His book was published by one of the most reputable scholarly presses. The book had gone through peer review process, which means that at least two other professors anonymously read the manuscript and in their evaluation said that the materials met the scholarly criteria. In academia, one could be conservative, liberal, Marxist, feminist, Islamist, or pro-Pahlavi or pro-Qajar, or pro-Hakhamaneshian, or whatever. Their research gets published in academic publications only if they can provide evidence and then make logical inferences. In his book, Dr. Majd does these very well. He provides solid evidence. And his inferences are logical.

Best,

Masoud

===========================================

Dear emsal3 kaleh,

When revolution occurred I was first year university student, so I am about 3 or 4 years older than you.

Revolution is a dynamic process. Let me give you an example with what is going on in Egypt.

If Mubarak had announced in November 2010 that he would not run in Sept 2011 election, that his son would not run in Sept 2011 election, and that all political prisoners are released, and that all parties and candidates could run in these forthcoming free, democratic, and fair elections, would there be any of the protests which occurred in the past 3 weeks, would have occurred? The answer is obviously "no." Now think how things would be different if Mubarak had sent his soldiers to massacre the people on Tahrir sq. and killed several hundred. Then this process would go on for 2 years and 5 months. Again and again, the people would go to protest and Mubarak would order his troops to shoot to kill. By November 2014, under the order of Mubarak, the Egyptian armed forces would kill about 2,900 people.

Would the people of Egypt trust the Egyptian armed forces in Nov 2014? The answer is "no." Now President Obama publically and privately pressured Mubarak to leave. Now if Obama supported Mubarak. And for 2 years and 5 months, Mubarak kept massacring the people, and Obama again and again supported mass murder of the Egyptian people, would the people of Egypt still have positive feelings towards the U.S. or would they hate the US for supporting the mass murder of their people????? Under such a situation, would in Oct or Nov 2014, the moderate democratic forces in Egypt be able to lead the people or would the anti-American, extremist forces do????

Keep in mind that the Free Officers who came to power in the 1952 coup had great legitimacy. They had great nationalist legitimacy. The Pahlavi monarchy lacked legitimacy. The Pahlavis were put in power by foreign powers. The British put Reza Shah in power. And the British put Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in power in 1941 and in 1953 the CIA coup put him in power.

In June 1977 JM leaders Dr. Sanjabi, Dr. Bakhtiar, and Dariush Forouhar issued an open letter demanding the Shah to respect the constitution, respect human rights of the Iranian people, and allow free and democratic elections. What did the Shah do? He bombed the offices and homes of a number of JM leaders.

During the revolutionary process, the Shah mass murdered unarmed Iranian people again and again. And President Carter publicly supported the Shah after each massacre. As this process went on, more and more of the people supported Khomeini leadership and proportionately fewer supported JM’s leadership.

In my opinion, if as late as Sept 1978, had the Shah agreed to abdicate, JM would have been able to bring a transition to democracy in Iran. The Shah placed his own evil selfish interests above the interests of the Iranian people. Iran lost its chance to be a democracy AGAIN because of the selfish actions of the Shah.

In early Nov 1978, Dr. Sanjabi told the Shah that he would take the rise of accepting prime ministership if the Shah left Iran and transferred the control of the armed forces to the prime minister. Again, the Shah refused.

In December 1978-February 1979, MILLIONS of people on the streets were supporting Khomeini. The ONLY way to prevent Khomeini’s rise to power in this time period was to send in the jet fighters and kill large numbers of people (e.g., 100,000 or so). This might have temporarily worked or it might not have worked. Would the people be frightened or would they fight back. Would the soldiers and officers follow Shah’s orders and massacre such large numbers? Or would the armed forces collapse?

JM is a moderate, democratic, pro-human rights party/coalition. JM could NOT agree to mass murder the Iranian people. In Dec 1978, Feb 1979, Khomeini had the support of millions of people. JM did not.

JM was enjoyed the majority support certainly in 1977 and the first half of 1978. Due to the massacres by the Shah, the people left our leadership and became the supporters of Khomeini. The more the Shah mass murdered the Iranian people, the more Khomeini became popular.

In Dec 1978-Feb 1979, JM simply could not stop the revolution.

A military coup might have (or might not) succeeded. But military coup was not something the JM would do. Military coup is something the Shah would do. Keep in mind that on Feb 10, the Immortal Guards could not put down the Havaniro forces who supported Khomeini. And on Feb 11, the Generals of the Shah did NOT support Dr. Bakhtiar. Why? Because they saw that they could not control their own soldiers and officers.

In conclusion, by Dec 1978-Feb 1979, it was TOO LATE for Dr. Bakhtiar or other JM leaders to stop Khomeini. The JM could have brought a transition to democracy in 1977 and by Sept 1978. Between Sept 1978 and early Nov 1978, there is a huge if. And Dr. Sanjabi was willing to risk this in order to prevent the rise of Khomeini. But even as late as early Nov 1978, the Shah did not accept the very minimum demands of Dr. Sanjabi.

I hope this is helpful.

Masoud

Sohrab_Ferdows

A few response

by Sohrab_Ferdows on

Dear Dr. Maryam Hojjat, you are absolutely right. Late Dr. Bakhtiar in his interviews and in his memoirs, has made it clear more than once that when he informed late Dr. Sanjabi of his decision to accept the mission to form a new government in a telephone conversation and invited him to join his team, Dr. Sanjabi became very angry and told him if there was anyone in the country who had right to form a new government, it was him not Dr. Bakhtiar or anyone else!. Dr. Bakhtiar reminded him that he had refused his own chance to form such government earlier which in Bakhtiar's view, was wrong because in his view, after so many years of waiting for our chance to arrive, it seemed unreasonable to let that opporunity pass with any excuse. I have to add this matter also that, even Mr. Shayegan (a close ally of later Dr. Mosadegh who had returned to Iran in that chaotic situation) and Mr. Sedighi changed their minds after discussing the matter with Sanjabi when they were offered to form the government by the late Shah and, left the country shortly afterwards.

Having said these, there is no clear indication that if Dr. Sanjabi made a different decision the result would be any different but this matter alone that he would not consider leading a new government for anyone other than himself shows the dominant mentality and behavior among such politicians at such sensetive times. The saddest part is that such mentality is currently the hallmark among many of those who brand themselves as followers of late Dr. Mosadegh and have gathered under the name of n organization that supposedly carries the legacy of Mosadegh with it while this organization was labeled as "dokkane Mosadehg" by late Dr. Amini when Dr. Sanjabi wanted to revive it for the second time. Dr. Amini had told Sanjabi at that time to go and open his own "dokkan" and leave Dr. Mosadegh alone which was the best advice one could give to a friend in my view.

Dear Dr. Kazemzadeh, a few years back, when you brought up the name of the book which is written by Mohammadgholi Majd, I told you and showed you that this book was written and published by propagators of Kadjar royals to blame everthing they did on Reza Shah, hoping that nobody will remember anything about what happened during the rule of Kadjar kings. I looked at your blog and noticed how stubborn your positions were (no surprise to me of course) towards any argument that was put forward by some of your readers (ie: Kaveh Parsa, Rostam and a few others). I really have nothing to add to what has already been stated (and very eloquently so) in those arguments by your readers. Also, I don't insist that you change your position over any of your arguments but I certainly disagree with you.

Dear Deev

Very interesting and valid, perhaps more so for the leftist types back then. Also, reading Mr. Vanaki's comment reminds me of my last day in Iran, back in summer of '79.

On that day, after stopping by the airport to drop off our luggage for next day's flight, I was taken to a demonstration sponsored by the newly arrived Tudeh's old upper cadre (from western and eastern Europe). The demonstration was held on the soccer field of the Tehran university, may be around 5000-8000 people, mostly old, or middle aged men and women, and well dressed. First, I noticed the difficulty in finding parking, even remotely close to the university, as most of these die hard working-class sympathizers had driven their automobiles to this gathering. No only that, I had never seen so many rows of Mercedes Benzs and Cadillacs parked all around the campus and side streets. Not surprising, during the long flight to New York the next day, my thoughts were preoccupied with that scene, and on-and-off, to this day.

Masoud Kazemzadeh

Dictatorship (fundamentalism and monarchy) Bad; Democracy Good

by Masoud Kazemzadeh on

Ms. Hojjat,

Your assertion is factually 100% false and insulting. By December 1978- January 1979, it was TOO LATE. Instead of listening to the demands of the Iranian people to leave, the Shah had murdered around 2,900 people between June 1977 and January 1979. The armed forces were collapsing. Even then, the tyrant Shah had not abdicated.

JM has always been for protecting the national interests of Iran. This cannot be said about the Shah. The difference of opinion between our members resulted in the split between Dr. Bakhtiar and Dr. Sanjabi. It is impossible to say which policy was correct. The problem was that on the one hand there was the brutal tyrant the Shah and on the other hand the then-not-known Khomeini. We know Khomeini is zillion times worse than the Shah (as he was until 1979). We do not know what would have happened had Dr. Bakhtiar was able to stabilize the situation (an impossible task) and the brutal shah had returned. Wouldn’t he dismiss Bakhtiar and mass murder hundreds of thousands of people??????????

The solution then and now is to make the pro-democracy forces stronger and stronger. One of the problems of Iran is the dictatorial groups (e.g., monarchists, Islamic fundamentalists). If we want freedom and democracy, then we have to make the dictatorial groups weaker and weaker.

MK

============================

Mr. Vanaki,

You are wrong again. JM is opposed by tyrannical groups such as monarchists and Islamic fundamentalists. But when we see the pro-democracy Iranians protest, we observe, again and again, that they hold the photo of JM’s founder and leader. JM continues to enjoy the trust of DEMOCRATIC Iranians. Of course, the anti-democratic Iranians such as monarchists and Islamic fundamentalists oppose us. This is the nature of the conflict between pro-democracy and anti-democracy groups in Iranian politics.

Your use of profanities for Iran’s main, oldest, and largest pro-democracy political party/organization is understood as the frustration that dictatorial groups and their supports have about Iranian democrats. We do NOT use profanities for anyone. We use logic and evidence. The Iranian people who support democracy support us. And those who support dictatorship support various dictatorial groups such as monarchy (or Islamic fundamentalists) attack us and use profanities.  I can assure you that vulgarities used by dictatorial groups (monarchists and Islamic fundamentalists) will NOT intimidate democratic forces into silence.  It has not done so in the past 58 or so years, I will NOT do so in the future.  JM will continue to fight for democracy and against dictatorship.

Aynak said it well that one could not reason with our monarchists and that they live in a parallel universe. Instead of realities they have delusions. In other words, no amount of evidence, scholarship, photos could have ANY impact on their views. Instead of logic they use fohsh.

1. The Pahlavis stole huuuuuuuuuuuhe amount from the Iranian people. Many estimate this to be in billions of dollars.

2. The following is from Oriana Fallaci’s observations:

"At this time tea was brought in, served in gold cups with gold teaspoons. But almost everything in this place was gold: the ashtray that you didn’t dare dirty, the box inlaid with emeralds, the knickknacks covered with rubies and sapphires, the corners of the table. And in that absurd and irritating glare of gold, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires, I sat for about two hours...."

Oriana Fallaci, Interview with History, p. 263.

I just posted two links to photos on the conspicuous consumption of the Pahlavis. Unfortunately, the site does not allow posting or embedding of photos in response areas.

A shameful fact about Jebhe Meli

that they betrayed Dr. Bakhteyar.  They only wanted power for themselves not to serve Iran & Irani.  Shame on them.
