Don Was : On June 24, 2009, Iranian Superstar Andy Madadian went into an LA recording studio with Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and American record producers Don Was and John Shanks to record a musical message of worldwide solidarity with the people of Iran. This version of the old Ben E. King classic is not for sale - it was not meant to be on the Billboard charts or even manufactured as a CD.....it's intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people...to give voice to the sentiment that all people of the world stand together....the handwritten Farsi sign in the video translates to "we are one". If you know someone in Iran - or someone who knows someone in Iran - please share this link: //www.MyDamnChannel.com/DonWas

I can see the frustration some of you might feel about his exploiting the cause but your frustration shouldn't take away what truly is a wonderful gesture. DK is right... wouldn't it be great if there was a combined effort by ALL artists? Wouldn't matter if they're iranian or american.

by Neda Ansari Ghopeh on Sun Jun 28, 2009 04:08 PM PDTThis is most certainly in accordance with the laws of quantum physics.
I dedicate this genius song to Neda Agha Soltan and others who fought for freedom, with permission from Bon Jovi for the minor tweek:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOfaYFIHt1g
This is for the ones who stood their ground
"Neda Agha Soltan and others who never looked down"
Tomorrow's gettin harder make no mistake
LUCK AIN'T EVEN LUCKY
Gotta make your own breaks
IT'S MY LIFE
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
IT'S MY LIFE!
You are resting in peace Neda jan, and rest assured I've kept all the wonderful poems and pieces in the name of Neda and your memory submitted by all the amazing writers and contributors of this site and others in a safe place.
Andy jan, I've been a fan for more than 20 years, as I have been of Jon's and this is truly amazing.

by Darius Kadivar on Sun Jun 28, 2009 02:53 PM PDTI think it would be a Great thing to continue this kind of support by having a Huge FREEDOM Concert with equally Iranian and American and European Artists.
This clip proves that its possible.
More Power to You !
Thank You Andy for initiating this !

I guess he might be around 70 now. Nowhere you see his date of birth. An old asshole with boyish voice ! Can't find a better one when I think about an old fart .
Stop blackening your grey hair and publish your date of birth if you are courageous.

Funerals for Neda Soldani
by K (not verified) on Sun Jun 28, 2009 10:44 AM PDTNeda Soltani has become icon for Iran protest against theocratic regime. It is said that Iran coverment has denied her funeral. It would be a thing if we could arrange her funerals here at west. It would be touching that her own coverment is denying her funerals but she would have her funerals by the free world.
Only problem is to contact bands. I’ve contact Rolling Stone Magazine editorial via e-mail and Iran-Canadian singer Nazanin Afsin-Jam via her net pages. I don’t know if Rolling Stone magazine will notice my email.

This can make more people aware of what's going on inside Iran than other methods.
How many younger people do you think watch CNN?
Those into music may start asking "what's going on?"

by vicky on Sun Jun 28, 2009 09:37 AM PDTI am so moved and grateful for this video. My heart has been in a grip for weeks now for the Iranian's that want reform, but felt there was no way to send this message. I hope the people in Iran that see this will know in some way there are people all over the world witnessing the birth pains of a new Iran.
My mantra for today is: Stan by you, yes I will stand by you

Andy, great job - Nifky, Armenians from Iran are Iranian
by Anahid Hojjati on Sun Jun 28, 2009 08:36 AM PDTMessage to Nifky: Andy is involved with World Music. If you check out section called "World Music" in music stores, you see that Andy is very much in it. Whenever they produce CDs that include music of different countries, usually it is Andy that sings the Farsi song. Please be supportive of our artists.
This is one of the most moving videoes I have ever watched. These guys took a great song; Stand by me, and used it to send their message of solidarity to people of Iran. This is ART in its best manifestation.

by Nifky (not verified) on Sun Jun 28, 2009 08:22 AM PDTAndy, has an extra dy in his name.
Jon Bon Jovi is a stand up first class kind of guy for all the volunteer work he does.
An(dy)- on the other hand is a blood sucking opportunistic dool sucker.
He is using the situation in Iran as promotional advertisement for himself.
Furthermore, An(dy) has numerous times said that he is more Armenian than Iranian, well, if he is, he needs to stop singing Iranian songs and eating out of the rear of Iranians! Iranians have given him 99% of the money he has.
He is An(dy) bedooneh (dy).
RIDING HIGH ....

You are going to ride high on the hearts of the Iranian people... especially you Jon -- since Andy is Iranian and you are not... and you are singing in solidarity with and for us.
The world needs many many more like you!
I cannot thank you enough... I simply cannot thank the whole group enough.
But here goes anyway...
To all of you:
Andy, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, John Shanks, Patrick Leonard, and Jeff Rothchild (and sorry if I've left out anyone else, I thank you too)
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!!
