My journey

All they want is Peace; all they want is Freedom!

20-Nov-2007 (7 comments)
After another hard-working semester at Miramar College, I figured my brain can no longer function, and after all it was summer time! I decided to go on a vacation, but it was not going to be an ordinary one, I had decided to go to Iran, my home, a country that I had left at the age of seventeen. As I was counting down the days to June 18th, a nostalgic feeling grew in me, “How has the image of Iran changed?”, “What if I find myself distant and cornered from the Iranian youth in terms of life-style and values?” It seemed though that the media had done its job in terms of influencing me!>>>

IMPRESSION

Journey to Tehran

Iranians are strong-willed, dynamic, courteous... and fatalistic in a pessimistic way

12-Nov-2007 (90 comments)
Tehran greeted me on January 3rd, 2007 around 5 am at the Tehran International Airport Mehrabad where courteous but thorough officials waved me through immigration to The Islamic Republic of Iran. The legendary hospitality of the Orient was fully confirmed as a committee, dispatched by the Conference that I was to attend, sent at this inconvenient hour three members to greet me with a beautiful flower arrangement. I went to many Conferences in my lifetime but was never made to feel so welcome or special! This is what I call civilization at its best—especially when one realizes that I am the holder of an American passport that at the present time distinguished me as not an ideal guest.>>>

A mixed Indian Iranian affair with the best food, music and rituals of both cultures

A week ago we attended a large family wedding in Toronto – the second trip to Canada this year for the boys. The first time, February, was tough. They both had bouts of flu and we asked everyone to stay away in case they fell ill too. This time we decided to acclimatise them to North America by visiting cousins in Raleigh, NC first before flying on to Toronto for the wedding. My cousins in Raleigh are also twins, only identical twins (my two aren’t identical), older and luckily for us, they have built houses next door to one another. So we could visit either brother and their wife, whenever we wanted to.>>>

TRAVELER

Sefidab

Go there, next time when you are in Iran

02-Nov-2007 (one comment)
Sefidab, which means white water, takes its name from the roaring, almost white colored falls and rapids which are seen as you enter the area. The mountains are covered with tea bushes and hazelnut trees, while at the bottom you see nothing but rice plantations. The scenery of these mountains and valleys which comes in many shades of green is serene; it takes your breath away.>>>

LIFE

La mia passione Italiana

I just have to write about my Italian passion

30-Oct-2007 (8 comments)
I don’t really know where it came from exactly. I always was intrigued by the Italian Mafia system, you know, the loyalty, the cleverness of doing things without getting caught and of course the beautiful way of handling things with the enemy. Italy always symbolized this ancient beauty for me. The people look like Persians, the same color of hair, skin and eyes. Their attitudes are like Iranians also, they have to accentuate what they mean by moving their hands in the air when they talk>>>
