As Dani Reese on the NBC hit show "Life"

See NBC's new drama series "Life." Shahi's previous credits include the critically acclaimed series "The L Word" where she played Carmen, a bilingual production assistant who spends her evenings as a dee jay.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Shahi moved to Los Angeles in 2000. As a member of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, she had a chance meeting with Robert Altman (in town shooting "Dr. T and the Women") at the Cowboy Ranch, who encouraged her to move to Los Angeles and pursue acting. In 2000, she graced the cover of the notorious Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader calendar and embarked on a USO tour, which took her to entertain the troops in Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo and Italy.

A newcomer to Hollywood, Shahi has previously appeared in the films "Old School," "For Your Consideration" and on the television series "The Sopranos," "Dawson's Creek," "Frasier" and "Alias."

i dont know why they say she is half spanish cus of her mother because when u look her parents names up on the internet it says her moms name is mahmonir and dads abbas. so where is the spanish in that?? lollllllll

YOU read it wrong!!

It says Fath'ali Shah ruled from 1797-1834, not the whole damn dynesty!

Clearing up the "Sarah Shahi" myth

It seems Moe and Irandokht have it all wrong. The site given by Moe just says that Ms. Shahi was born in texas in 1980. Her "family" immigrated to the US in 1978. According to the site noted because of the "Iranian Revolution". That is an absurd statement. The Qajars posed zero threat to the Iranian Revolution. The Qajars were out of power since 1924.

If I had a dime for everytime an Iranian said he fled Iran because of the Iranian Revolution I would be wealthier than Bill Gates and Warren Buffet combined. No one is looking for most of these bums and the Iranian government. Anyhow, back to the historical part of this Iranian thing.

In 1925 a cossack colonel by the name of Reza Khan from the tiny insignificant Iranian village of Savad Kooh was sworn in as Iran's Shah.

The article cited by Moe says the Qajars ruled from 1797 to 1834. That is wrong. Ahmad Shah, the last Qajar King to rule Iran was king until 1924. The date the article cited was wrong. And what is meant by the word "family" is vague also. Two homo guys in San Francisco are a family according to some definitions. How do you know that Sarah's father didn't marry a Mexican female in Texas? Sarah's father could have immigrated with her Iranian paternal grandmother Sakina Bagum.

By the way, her stage name is Sarah Shahi.
Her birth given name is Aahoo Jahansouz Shahi.

If you ever get in touch with her, to figure everything out, tell her Jamshid sends his regards. She'll probably respond, "You know Jamshid Niavarani?!"

Sarah Shahi's mother is referred to as "Spanish". That is a vague term. What does that mean? Her mother could be from any Latin American country or Spain. How many Spaniards do you see in America? Not many. She is from Texas. Her mother is probably a Mexican. Her father is supposedly related to the Qajar Shah, Fat'Ali Shah. How is it that a relative of the Qajars was permitted to marry an undocumented illegal Mexican alien that crashed the southern border of Texas is amazing. It is amazing that both cultures like rice and beans. Sarah Shahi must have had a ball when she was served Parsley Stew, "Ghormeh Sabzi" for a meal. The household must have went nuts. Beans and rice...
Anyhow, it seems her parents got a divorce when she was young. She speaks farsi as well as castillian spanish.
