Women's Initiative, a San Francisco/Bay Area non-profit, offering training and support to low-income women wanting to start and grow their own businesses, announced the selection of Etrat and Baran Elahi co-founders of The Nutty Cookie Company as its Alameda County Honorees for its November 3rd Honoree and Graduates Luncheon at the San Francisco Hyatt Regency. Each year Women's Initiative honors women-owned businesses that embody the Women's Initiative philosophy of leadership, entrepreneurship and giving back, with the prestigious Pacesetter Award. The luncheon took place during the organization's fourth annual bilingual English/Spanish business conference for women entrepreneurs and was attended by over 500 bay area entrepreneurs, business leaders, and political figures.
The Nutty Cookie Company established in 1984, is an online cookie and gift basket company serving major retailers, specialty food stores and gift basket companies. It has been featured in The Food Network, The Oxygen Channel and Evening Magazine.
About Women's Initiative
Since 1988, Women's Initiative has been assisting high-potential low-income women who dream of business ownership. The Women's Initiative for Self Employment provides a one-stop shop where high-potential, lower-income women receive training, financing and support to start and grow their own businesses. Through an intensive 20 ses sion program - in English or Spanish - women are enabled to start, or expand their business.
