Bahrain & Iran

MP condemning Bahrain independence deal reached with the British

Clip from 1971, showing Iranian Parliament session in which Mohsen Pezeshkpour of the Pan Iranist Party passionately objects to the decision to separate Bahrain from Iran in return for the three Persian Gulf islands (Abu Musa, Greater Tunb & Lesser Tunb). Amazing in many ways, especially in face of what's been happening recently.

Had we kept Bahrain back then,

by JavoonDeerooz on

we would have lost it now. They are separated from the mainland, speak their own language and have their own culture. We could not kept it forever.

Advisor jaan, Thanks

Advisor jaan,

Thanks dear. I agree with you and thanks for your support. I do however think though we should not let these few misguided people hijack the Iranian voice.

Thanks again.

Dear FK

Please do not bother to answer some known barking dog in the cyber space, or argue over any of their idiotic remarks, then you'd have to waste a lot of valuable time on worthless arguments :-)

Mr or Ms. Jaleho, You

by Farhad Kashani on

Mr or Ms. Jaleho, You hypocrisy and lack of ability to understand the bigger picture astonishes me. Khomeini is a traitor for many reasons. He was a traitor because he “betrayed” the Iranian people by promising them freedom, and then, establishing a regime that has become a dark chapter in not only Iran, but human, history because of its undemocratic and brutal nature. He “betrayed” Iranian values of co-existence, respect for others who are different, and peacefulness. Those values have been the core and essence for our civilization for thousands of years. As far as territorial integrity is concerned, 1- yes, giving away 33% of Iranian sea territory is a “betrayal” everyway you look at it. Did you know what your beloved regime’s foreign minister said about this? He said: whoever mentions this issue up, is an enemy of the Iranian people!!!! This is the extent of logic your dear regime has!!!! (lack of it). They know they gave our territory away, but, in order to silence anyone who speaks about it, they would call him “enemy of the Iranian people”!!! 2- Lets say Khomeini didn’t give any land away to Iraq, are you seriously trying to make him look good??? Are you for real, or you kidding yourself!!!?? Staling didn’t give an inch either, he actually occupied many territories and added them to USSR, what kind of legacy did he leave???? So because he didn’t give a land way, although he started that same war that caused Iran damages that will take more than one generation to fix, by meddling in Saddam’s affairs and trying to “export the Shite revolution to Iraq”, we should somehow “thank him”?? Are you for real sir?

Jaleho

Shirazi,

by Jaleho on

ummmm, between us, Iran has historically encroached upon Afghanistan and water passages, both during Shah, and under IRI, not vice versa.

Thank you Shah

Mishmaahig (Bahrain) & Iran

by maghshoosh (not verified) on

Here's more info on the historical relationship between Bahrain & Iran (poor translation):
//www.cais-soas.com/CAIS/Geography/mishmahig....
It claims that by late 19th century Bahrain was essentially independent of Iran, and that a UN report in 1970 had already recommended official independence for Bahrain.

And if curious about the Pan-Iranist party led by Pezeshkpour, who's in Iran now, check out

What a black day it was when

by a Persian from Bahrain (not verified) on

What a black day it was when the British forced Iran to accept the separation of Bahrain by a fake plebiscite conducted by the United Nations.

The Persian character of Bahrain is apparent no matter how much the ruling family thugs (AL KHALIFA) try to eliminate and rewrite history. Many names of ancient villages in Bahrain are in Persian such as Karbabad, Salmabad, Karzakan, Duraz, Barbar, Demestan, Jerdab etc...

Know the facts first

by Aboli (not verified) on

The island was part of Iran, on the paper only. It had been a long time since the Iranian government had any presense there.
They brokered a deal: Iran gets the 3 islands in dispute, establishes the right of way on Shat-ol-arab, and many other points, and in return, the people of Island , can vote for independance, or being part of Iran (much like the referendum they held in Puerto Rica, a few years ago, asking the residents if they want to join the US as a state).

The residents voted to be independant.
The regime entered many deals with others. In some we got the benefit, and in others, some may argue, we got a raw deal. The fact is, it was made with our best national interest in mind.

Aboli
P.S. Frankly, I do not want to force Iranian nationality on anyone. If you don't want to be Iranian, don't be!

shah gave away lots of other land

by shirazie (not verified) on

shah gave away lots of our land

1. western edge broader with Iraq (see Iran's map in 1960's and 1976) for access to the Shatt'al' Arab way
2. a lake between Iran and Afghanistan

The royalist only think of their palace and nothing beyond.

The Islamist think of taking over the world.

can we have someone in between?

The reasons...

by Anonymous-Bahraini-Irani (not verified) on

for Shrinking Iran's share of the Caspian Sea are the newly formed countries formed after the USSR collapse. Second, no one answered my question, as follows, can someone please give me the historical FACTS (no Bull-$hit please) surrounding why Shah was forced by British to give up Bahrain? Thanks!

Jaleho

Mr Kashani also finds Khomeini

by Jaleho on

a traitor because he did not give into the pressure of accepting Khuzestan as part of Iraq, and all of Arvand rood going to Iraq as "shat-al-Arab." He find him too "Arab" for defending Iran's integrity against a war raged on her by practically the entire world, western-and Russia and all Arabs to rob Iran off its oil.

Mr. Kashani, most probably, also found Ahmadinejad an idiot becasue he took the British hostages claiming that they were in Iran's water, not that of Iraq's as the Britis were trying to re-draw the water-borders at will again!!

So now he has to whine over Caspian sea which no one has agreed to anything yet, even though the world history and geography has changed because of disintegration of Soviret Union, not becasue of anything that the IRI has done, amazing namaknashnasi!!  Why don't you go ahead an deny the existence of the newly formed countries from former Soviet Union??!

That is so interesting

by antIRI (not verified) on

There are so much that we don't know and we are left in dark and they have kept the people ignorant.

If Iranian people realize how much we have lost because of Arabs and Arab neighbors they will stop sympathizing with them.

It is interesting that UAE now claims that the tree Islands belong to them.

Good Luck UAE

Let's be realistic.

by MRX1 (not verified) on

I like to see the video of discussion about partition and loss of Caspian Sea by the current regime..............

But let's be realistic about Bahrain issue :
A) Iran did not have the military power to prevent separation of Bahrain from Iran. Frankly even today if U.S or Nato occupies Iranian Islands on a pro long basis not much you will be able to do...

B) To maintain a control on an island or any other entity, even today with all technology and power you need a population that want to be part of larger entity, otherwise you have to either do a military occupation or much worst ethnic cleansing of local population, some thing that I am sure you humanitarian secular democrats would object right?

Pan Iranists

by Shahrokh T (not verified) on

I have a few questions about this party, may be some has the answer.

1. Pan Iranists became part of Rastakhiz party in 1354. So they accepted Shah's idea. Pezeshkpour was in Majlis in 1357 and accepted to be a Rastakhiz party member. How could the party be like "Yek Bam o Do Hava"?

2. It seems like Ardeshir Zahedi brought this idea to have Bahrain seperated. Does any one knows whom brought the idea to Majlis? Who was Eng. Afkhami? The husband of Ms. Mahnaz Afkhami?

3. I have viewed the Pan Iranists web site. It seems like they are Pro Hitler? Am I right? They do not say it directly, but they like Reza Shah.

4. What happened to Pezeshkpour and his team after 1979? Did Khalkhali ever killed any of them? Are they still active in Iran? Is he out of Iran? What the not equal sign and circle means at the The party's flag?

thanks ... Shahrokh

Is there a video showing

Is there a video showing anyone objecting to the IRI regime giving 33% of our sea territory in the Caspian Sea to Russia and other former Soviet republics?

Does anyone know...

by Anonymous-Bahraini-Irani (not verified) on

The facts behind why Shah was forced by British to give up Bahrain? I know one fact that most recent Shahs of Iran from Qajar to Pahlavi gave up land that belong to Iran for centuries, such a shame!
