Ken -- prostitutes

by Rosie T. on

If it is true what you say and many of these women were prostitutes during the time of the Shah, that would go very far toward explaining their behavior later.  Almost no women choose prostitution freely; it comes from poverty, childhood sexual abuse, extreme victimization and margnalization.  In that case it would not be surprising that they found solace in the role as "faati-kommandos", that finally society offered them a place with SOME dignity.  And it would also go far to explaining why they don't mind covering themselves from head to toe after years of being disposable sexual objects, as well as forcing other women to do the same....

So your suggestion of a history of prostitution in my opinion contradicts your labeling them "crude evil bitches."  But...that's just...Rosie's World....

Sofia Allam simply could not

by islamispeace (not verified) on

Sofia Allam simply could not believe it. Her kind, loving father was sitting in front of her threatening to kill her. He said she had brought shame and humiliation on him, that she was now "worse than the muck on their shoes" and she deserved to die.

And the doting mum?

"My mother's transformation was even worse. She constantly beat me about the head. She screamed at me all the time. I remember saying to them, as they were shouting death threats, 'Mum, Dad - you're saying you should kill me… but I'm your daughter! Don't you realise that?'?"

They know perfectly well but the pull of Islam is greater; it warps their humanity -- to the point where they actually wish death upon their child.

"It was such a shock. I remember thinking when they brought all my uncles round to try to intimidate me - all these men were lined up telling me how terrible a person I was, how the devil had taken me - I remember thinking, how can this be happening? Because this isn't Lahore in Pakistan. This is Dagenham in London! This is Britain!"

It is as just to murder an ex-Muslim in Lahore as it is in Dagenham. To Muslims, sharia doesn't stop at an artificial geographic boundary.

Read the next part carefully:

Ibrahim Mogra, of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), says that it is "absolutely disgraceful behaviour… In Britain, no Muslim has the right to harm one hair of someone who decides to leave Islam."

Inayat Bunglawala, also a spokesman for the MCB, insists that such behaviour in Britain is "awful and quite wrong. The police should crack down on it."

I find the inclusion of "in Britain" quite interesting.

Patrick Sookhdeo was born a Muslim, but later converted to Christianity. He is now international director of the Barnabas Fund, an organisation that aims to research and to ameliorate the conditions of Christians living in countries hostile to their religion.

He notes that "all four schools of Sunni law, as well as the Shia variety, call for the death penalty for apostates. Most Muslim scholars say that Muslim religious law - sharia - requires the death penalty for apostasy.

"In 2004, Prince Charles called a meeting of leading Muslims to discuss the issue," adds Dr Sookhdeo. "I was there. All the Muslim leaders at that meeting agreed that the penalty in sharia is death. The hope was that they would issue a public declaration repudiating that doctrine, but not one of them did."

Of course.

That "in Britian" part above was not a mistake.

The reluctance to condemn sharia law is widespread. I asked Mr Bunglawala, for instance, to condemn the Islamic states that imposed the death penalty for apostasy. He did not do so, merely commenting that "it was a matter for those states".

Welcome to the DialogueTM where everything you cherish (free speech, human rights etc.) is open to compromise and where everything the Muslims cherish (the evil rantings of a long-dead psychotic Arab etc.) is set in stone.

But imagine...

"Imagine there’s no heaven,

It’s easy if you try,

No hell below us,

Above us only sky,

Imagine all the people Living for today...

Imagine there’s no countries,

It isn’t hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for,

No religion too,

Imagine all the people Living life in peace...

Imagine no possessions,

I wonder if you can,

No need for greed or hunger,

A brotherhood of man,

Imagine all the people Sharing all the world...

You may say I’m a dreamer,

But I’m not the only one,

I hope some day you’ll join us,

And the world will live as one. "

To RESPECT -- Sure but let's not be a hypocrite about respect.

by Anon (not verified) on

Moslems demand everyone else's "respect" to such a degree that it just gets ridiculous -- case and point: Sudan and the British teacher that was condemned to death over a teddy bear named Muhammad.

Moslems themselves neither tolerate nor respect anyone else's believe. For them respect is a one-sided deal. That is called hypocrisy folks. Nice Try!

What's with covering the mouth?!!

by Anon (not verified) on

Where in the Quoran does it refer to women covering their mouths? Just curious where this habit creeped into the moslem world. I am not aware of such a mandate. If anyone could clarify the origins I'd really appreciate it. I can understand having rules for covering their face and body...but why half their faces too? Looks so wrong. A paperbag on their heads with two holes would be a much more efficient way to achieve this look and would free up their hands too. I'm sincerely curious. Thanks in advance.

To Khosro re Dr. M.

by Rosie T. on

Dr. Maleknasri's English reflects an indefatigable and sincere attempt to dialog as best as he can with people he knows oppose his vews strongly and are far more fluent than he in English.  Nevertheless, he prevails.  As far as I am concerned, his English is beautiful.

His comments and choice of where he posts them to me seem to reflect his upbringing, his ideology and his personal preferences, just like those of every single other writer on this site.

Dr, Maleknasri: re "Western" vs. "Islamic" dress for women

by Rosie T. on

A well-known male Iranian intellectual whose name I won't mention, so that personal opinons about his ideology and personality don't distract from the discussion at hand, said publicly at a meeting I attended last year in New York  (I paraphrase):

"ISLAM IS OBSESSED WITH COVERING THE FEMALE BODY AND THE WEST IS OBSESSED WITH UNCOVERING IT AND I WISH THEY WOULD BOTH LEAVE IT ALONE."

I couldn't agree more.

Robin  PS  Dr. M., I wrote to you at length on Rashidian's blog called "Immoral Trades" last week but I don't know if you saw it.  Could you please read my two posts to you if you haven't yet, and if you choose to do so, please reply.  Greeting.  :D

REPLY : FUNNY? IMPOSSIBLE

by Faribors Maleknasri M.D. (not verified) on

As it is more than obvious that the session is deciding about a important question, so it is just impossible even only to think on a funy idea which would fit. You know in Islamic societies the women have equal right to make decisions as men. Sure it is difficult for some unreligious, specially for non-moslem individualls to understand it, to digest it. but it doesnt matter at all. The true Iranians - I mean the ones who live in IRI - are convinced: If the women did not have acted as they have in the 7th and 8th centuries so no islam would existed today and no Revolution were happend in 1978/79 in Iran and no IRI had round the ears of international imperialism specially the western one. That is the role which Moslem-women have plaid and will also play in future. To be able to do so they choose the appropriate kind of dressing. In many various sportdisciplin weare moslem-women similar kinds of dress. Short: dont be afraid of those relaible sisters, they do not bite! they have also no Bombs hidden in their veil. BUT: IF ANY BODY; SO ALSO POLICE, WILL LOOK IN TO THE VEIL SO Is A COURTPERMISSION NEEDED !! That is the true right that Islam provides for the MOSLEM-WOMEN. And if the sisters in Foto should be whores waiting to be picked up so they get befor any bodycontact married and if some nauthies dare to call them whore so they will have to pay as fien. In these days where the CIA and Co. have made the Mess and westerns own media calls the bushy bushy a leier and the IRI - it does not belong to me - and the iranians - the true iranians - are full of happiness and all are cheering up so are some "for ever losts" deeply frustrated, are again in thier own element and make jokes. So please: dont worry, be happy. last not least i have a question: Who decides how the western women have to wear what and how? Decides every women on her own about that what she puts on? She on her own? Really?? Greeting

Rosie T.

to Haha: deciding who should wear what?

by Rosie T. on

Who is deciding anything about what anybody should wear? Making JOKES is not DECIDING anything. And did they decide--did all these women FREELY decide what to wear? Is this a fashion statement or even a religious statement freely chosen?  Or have they chosen it to obey the men in their patriarchal family structure and is that a true choice?  Or have they chosen it to make a POLITICAL statment and as such don't they leave themselves open as more than fair game for satirization?

Maryam Rajavi, the Coco Chanel of the Desert, whatever else you may think of her, you have to admit...now THAT's an observant Muslim woman who DECIDES WHAT TO WEAR!

Also I thought I'd seen pictures of women dressed like this...arresting young women with pretly little  Giorgio Armani silk scarves on their heads and high-buttoned tailored coats.  Was I dreaming?  Or were these women deciding what other women should wear?

Finally, this kind of chador (long, complete and black) and also burqa are a major cause of osteoporosis in women, because the Vitamin D provided by sunlight necessary for calcium metabolism for strong bone structure is not supplied.  Also burqa is a major cause of death of women in Afghanistan--it blocks peripheral vision so they can't see the oncoming cars. And some of these get-ups here come dangerously close to burqa.  But who am I to decide whether that's good or bad?  What am I, a traffic cop?

Robin

PS  WHAT WOULD BE MORE FUNNY CAPTIONS FOR THIS PICTURE????  LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL ! :D
