Katayoon Zandvakili

Poet, author

Katayoon Zandvakili was born in Tehran and now lives in Oakland, California. Her collection of poetry, Deer Table Legs [excerpts],
won the University of Georgia Press Contemporary Poetry Series prize in
1998; the book’s title poem won a Pushcart Prize in 2000. Her work has
been published in journals such as Lumina, caesura, Five Fingers Review, Rattapallax, and anthologized -- American Poetry: The Next Generation, Let Me Tell You Where I've Been: New Writing by Women of the Iranian Diaspora, and the 2007 Norton's Anthology: Contemporary Eastern Voices. She is at work on a novel, How My Manners Almost Killed Me: A Season in the Life of a Thrice-Married California Girl, and two screenplays — all while helping her dog edit his memoir, The Invincible Gatsby>>>katayoon.net   Who's your Iranian of the day? I recommend her for NPP in Literature. And of course when she gets it she will be dining with alone in dim light to hear her soem of her peotry from her own tongue...
