Photo essay: Music hall on outskirts of Rio de Janeiro

[Note: Captions have been added below many of the photos] The first night I met Igor -- a tall, sociable Brazilian in his late twenties (?) -- he was supposed to give me some tips on finding an apartment. Instead he took me and a bunch of his foreign friends to a huge music hall on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. It was packed with thousands of young Brazilians who danced their ass off to live music until early hours of the morning :)

Raoul1955 Conservatives just lie, no excuses needed ; (

Pictures look very fun, but they are pictures and are showing the surface.  This is a society where like the USA most > 50% either don't have or can barely afford healthcare.  In contrast we have it truly good in Europe, human rights is not just a word for their own people in the EU.

Too much fun

by MRX1 on

I am envious,  they have too much fun! send them islam nabeh mohammdi to destroy their day. Nothing more will damper their sprit than weeping for hossein and the whole month dedicating to azadari and such.

What a lively culture. Love to visit soon.

Just a thought: would be nice to have some non-Iranian contributors with more than 10th grade education.

mr. arash : it was indeed a matter of "cultural differences"

by mousa67 on

Only changiz khan the mongol fully appreciated the "cultural differences" between the ardent followers of the "religion of peace" and the rest of humanity. and he displayed this appreciation when he laid baghdad to waste as a lesson to the rest of muslims. and to this day muslims name their children "changiz" in his honor.

Raoul1955

muslims and liberals usually

by Raoul1955 on

Do use the 'culture' as an excuse for...

When I read that the Iranians used their 'culture' excuse for the rape/molestation I smiled and thought that liberals also use a similar excuse to 'justify' the criminal behavior of 'certain' groups...

Arash Kamangir

rape attempt caused by "cultural differences"!!!

by Arash Kamangir on

According to iranian embassy in Brazil the rape attempt was caused by "cultural differences"!!! so basically all nations can go aound and rape each other and it is justified because we have 1000 of different cultures and traditions!!!!!!

Iran diplomat in Brazil scandal (bbc)

Brazil says it will ask Iran for an explanation after an Iranian diplomat was accused of molesting underage girls in a swimming pool in Brasilia.
