Iranians must begin taking credit for having authored their own tragedy.

He is not beyond criticism, but so far, is an olgoo 4 secularism

by MM on

While mosaddegh is not beyond criticism, his courage, love of Iran and vision of a secular democratic Iran is something we should be proud of.  Instead of over analyzing the past, focusing on mosaddegh's frailty as a result of illness or re-writing history, we need to move forward knowing that Iranians are able to foresee a secular democratic Iran.  On the occasion of mosaddegh's birthday, I wish to covey one message to our next generation: say no to secular / religious dictatorship and say yes to secular democracy.

PS, the author fails to take into account the brit's hypocracy and their failure to convince the previous US administration to go with their greed, and Eisenhower's fear of communism forced the British plans for Iran. Please refer to the US archives to read the accounts, now public (//www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB28/). Just because a book is published, it does not make a fact.

 Where is that fact-free,

Where is that fact-free, lazy journalist Kinser??

(...)What he lacked in analytical probity, Mr. Kinzer made up for with a remarkable knack for popularization. Indeed, President Obama himself cited the Kinzer narrative in his Cairo address to the Muslim world, and later as a justification for refusing to speak out decisively in support of the 2009 post-election uprising in Iran. Yet over the past decade a number of corrective accounts—most notably, Abbas Milani's magisterial 2011 biography of the shah—have punctured the Kinzer myth and told a far different story. To this revisionist canon one must add, perhaps against the author's own wishes, "Patriot of Persia," Christopher de Bellaigue's biography of Mossadegh.

Naturally, the NIACi IRI lobbyist hacks on Iranian.com are following the Khatt-e Emam (Trita) in attacking the author of this book review.

Had heard this account before

by JustAnIranian on

I haven't read the book yet but I will.

I had heard axactly this account from an old gentleman who remembered the Mossadegh time. This only confirms exactly what he told me.

Now, if the truth belongs in the grocery store next to the national enquirer for Iranians, that's very sad. It is an unbiased account .
