From Pakistan Observer: Arabs look to Turkey, not Iran, says poll Semih İdiz

On appearance, Turkey and Iran continue to have good ties. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s visit to Tehran earlier this month seemed to confirm this also. The two countries will clearly try and maintain this appearance for practical reasons. But the fact is that they have divergent interests when it comes to regional developments.

For Turkey, the “Arab Spring” is the product of a demand for more democracy, prosperity and stability. For Iran, however, the streets are in revolutionary fervor and an Islamic takeover is imminent in the countries involved.

The divergence between the two countries has also manifested itself in the radically different approaches they have towards Iran’s closest regional ally, Syria. There, the protests are not considered by Tehran as “revolutionary fervor” but “U.S. and Zionist machinations.”

islamist regime supporting prostitutes aside...

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

The islamist regime's "foreign policy" (for want of a better word) has been a total disater for them. Despite the claims of their internet based prostitutes (sorry, supporters) in shamefull denial, apart from few terrporist gangs (hamas, hezbullah, factions of Al_Qaeda), and syria, really, the islamist regime has no regional allies. As for the russsians and chinese, they are there only for cheap oil.

"Personal business must yield to collective interest."

Balanced attitude?

by Reality-Bites on

Well, if you say so.

But I'm not sure I'd call it balanced if I spent most of my time criticizing a handful of inconsequential individuals supposedly asskissing the West, whose mere opinions has no bearing on the lives of the Iranian peple and at the same refused point blank to say anything against what IS having a major impact on the lives Iranians, in a destructive and severly harmful way, namely the regime that rules over them.

But that's just me.

Complicated yes. Because any sane person will have a hard time to keep a balanced attitude towards all that is happening. We are all walking a thin line and the weaker souls go insane and cannot distinguish between love of country and asskissing the West.

My motto: Kissing white ass will not only not make one white, but will also leave brown marks on the lips.

Complicated thought process!

by Reality-Bites on

"I'm not a supporter of the IRI", but

"I don't criticize the IRI because enough people do it already", but

"I criticize the people who criticize the IRI", and

"I also don't like any foreigners criticizing the IRI", and

"I will write about achievements under the IRI or any other regime", but remember supposedly:

"I'M NOT A SUPPORTER OF THE IRI"!

MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan

I do not criticize the IRI

by MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan on

1) Enough people doing it already

2) I am not a supporter of the IRI

3) I am against false propaganda that in the long run harms real opposition to the present regime. False propaganda such as this picture //roozegardaily.com/pdf/90-05-29/14.pdf.

3) I am against "lengesh kon" society of Iranians abroad

4) I am against the Bombollahi bunch here who promote interference of foreign powers in Iran's affairs. And I sincerely hope that if it happens, the said groups' families be among the first ones hit by a "stray" missile.

5) I will write about Iran's achievements be it under IRI or any other regime.

6) I will write against countries conniving againt Iran under the cover of combatting IRI.

Didn't I say: I don't agree with him. FYI,  a while back in reaction to alx's comments on Arabic language I posted a few songs by Fayrooz. You really think relating his dislike of Arabs to animal sex is going to change his mind? Like it or not we have many, many Iranians that incorrectly despise Arabs, I have a few in my family, ( they don't understand that an average Arab is as messed up and hapless as any Iranian). Patience and education, through culture and arts, and more patience, is the only way to deal with such prejudice, as any other prejudice.

Talking about prejudices and biases, when was the last time you criticized Islamic Republic of Hell for all the prejudices and biases it has injected into Iranian society and culture?

@Hooshy: So you think...

by MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan on

So you think my comment is out of line but bigotry and racism is just fine?

It must be so since you never objected to his original comment. By the way, where is the nearest KKK Iranian chapter?

MeyBokhor: Aren't YOU projecting YOUR SEXUALITY onto alx's

by Hooshang Tarreh-Gol on

comment. He simply meant he thinks Jack Asses are more respectable, which you might agree with or not, I don't.

But where did you read or get any notion of sexuality in that line. Unless you're projecting your own self-desire onto his comment. Which seems to be the case. Shame on you.

VDM: Is that Mother Jones in your avatar? Way to go.

Your racist remarks only serves to put us Iranians to shame.
