There are independent labor unions in Iran..
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sun Aug 14, 2011 12:03 AM PDTwhich are severly suppressed with their unin leaders imprisoned and tortured. Tehran's Transport workers union a good eample. Mr Osalou, it's very popular and respected leader was released thanks largely to immense grass root internal and international pressure, after more than 7 years of torture at the hands of islamist regime.
Industrial unrest in Iran is growing daily in face of economical hardships caused by government corruption and mismanagement. I and some other members report them here, almost exclusively in Farsi, from sources within Iran. The demands are currently less political, more related to poor working conditions, pay, health and safety, etc.

Yolanda you are right..
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sat Aug 13, 2011 08:17 PM PDTRemember, these figures (800,000 deaths in past 32 years) are what is admitted by government itself. the real figures are probably much higher...
Apart from the general disregard for traffic laws, the Road infrastructure in Iran is in a sorry state. Due to Iran's poor state of economy & high inflation,the boss/truck drivers have to work very long hours to make ends meet. Lots of accidents are caused by driver fatigue. All in all, I think we Iranians must be # 1 nation when it comes to road deaths.

by yolanda on Sat Aug 13, 2011 06:27 PM PDTThe figure of traffic fatalities is mind-boggling! So the death toll from the I/I war and death toll from traffic accidents are pretty much the same! Here is a video showing people crossing street in Iran:

They were performing stunt!
When I was seaching for the above video, I found a bonus video, not sure which country the video was taped, it shows people boarding the training while the training still going:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvcw-EagwzI&feature=related
so other people have to perform stunt also!
