The Palestinian delegation in the United States expressed its "deep disappointment" on Thursday over the resolution passed by the U.S. House, which opposes unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state.

The General Delegation of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to the United States issued a statement saying it "expresses its deep disappointment over the resolution passed yesterday by the House of Representatives condemning any attempt to gain recognition of an independent Palestinian state without the approval of the Israeli government."

The United States House of Representatives unanimously approved a resolution opposing unilateral declaration of Palestinian state. The resolution slams Palestinian efforts to push the international community to recognize a state in such a manner as "true and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians can only be achieved through direct negotiations between the parties."
