House, Senate agree on stiffer Iran sanctions
Los Angeles Times / Paul Richter

House and Senate negotiators reached agreement Monday on legislation that would impose additional U.S. sanctions against Iran in hopes the economic punishment convinces Tehran to curb its nuclear ambitions.

The new penalties would come on top of a fourth round of United Nations Security Council sanctions, and would be in addition to new unilateral sanctions by the United States and the European Union.
