TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian authorities prevented a well-known movie actress and a film maker from traveling to the United States because of their activities after a disputed election in June, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Sarmayeh daily appeared to refer to involvement in huge opposition protests that erupted after the June 12 presidential poll, which defeated candidates say was rigged to secure the re-election of hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

It said actress Fatemeh Motamed-Aria and documentary movie producer Mojtaba Mirtahmaseb were stopped at Tehran's airport on Thursday as they prepared to depart for a work-related visit to Los Angeles.

Eight other people in the group were allowed to leave for a week-long conference on Iranian cinema, Sarmayeh said.

"These two were stopped from leaving because of their activities in post-election events," the newspaper said, without giving a source. It quoted Mirtahmaseb as saying: "After completing the last stages of our passport inspection, airport agents showed a court order to me and Mrs Motamed-Aria and said that neither of us can leave Iran." He added that no reason was given.

There was no immediate comment from the authorities.

DK, its Sunday here, so I'll be nice...

First I did agree with you, so why are you mad at me, bro?  I was just tried to  remind you that Iranian cinema was deprived from anything artsi during the reign of "your people" in case you were in a comma or sleepwalking the entire time when you were there. The only art movie that I remeber seeing then was Gaav by Mehrjooie, I'm sure there were a couple more but I'm sure Fardin was not in any of them. Serious filmmakers, and theater directors were constantly in serious trouble with "your people" and had to walk a very thin line.

I'd still like to know whether you get goose bumps like I do, when Golshifteh labaasho ghoncheh mikoneh. Khodemouneem, when as the last time you got lucky, do you remember? Just teasing you (;<{)

PS sorry for messing with your mind, I simply don' see any contradictions in my remarks. Maybe you need to get a brain upgrade or apply some sort of patch, whichever works best.

DK, I agree with you on how badly...

this regime treats EVERYONE. But are you sure if your "people" were in charge the treatment of the people would be any different. It sure was the same when they were in charge. We had draconian censorship on ALL forms of art. Besides, it's quite ironic that there have been far superior films made in Iran after the revolution. The Pahlavi era gave us "filmfarsi", which I'm sure you are quite familiar with.

So quelle est la difference, homie?

BTW, I get goose bumps when Golshifteh labaasho ghoncheh mikoneh, don't you?
