A political party affiliated with Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, the former president and key member of the Iranian regime, on Sunday called on Mir-Hossein Mousavi, the opposition leader, to form a “political bloc” that would pursue a long-term campaign to undermine the “illegitimate” government.

The experience of past 30 years has shown any opposition group were crushed over time. They did not even tolerate Karoubi's Etemaad melli, Such calls are only attempts to calm down the current potential and energy and make people go home.

Opposition and Mousavi's best position at this point is to call for a lasting national strike from Bazaar to labor to teachers, workers, oil industry, truck drivers, clergy etc... and once the regime economic machine come to standstill to call for the military to join the people. Montazeri, Boroujerdi and other more progressive clergy can play an important role in this among the masses. Such efforts has been historically successful during the constitutional revolution as well as in 1978.

It will also have least tension with the regime and less death tolls. Waiting for Rafsanjani and alike to create their own internal clergy coup against Khamenei is due to partial lack of belief in the power of The People.

People's movement still lacks leadership and it has been the people who have been leading and the leaders been following.

It is important to start a grassroots call for National strike immediately. Mousavi does not need to wait to be arrested to make such call! He should decide who he relies on : those who are trying to come to a compromise behind the scene or The People's call for real change.
