Dear Socrates

Why do you contradict yourself with the second post??

This is Iran under IR, you can do anything you want as long as you are connected? Zoor Gooee, Dozadee, Bee-edaalatee, shekanjeh! Did you see the clip in three parts recently where Iran is displayed as little child whom would resort to kidnapping of Westerners and the adults (the West) would slap her ... This is how low the leaders of our country has sunk under IR! In civilized world, they wouldn't arrest the spy, but rather keep an eye on them in order to expose their intentions. she will be used as a bargaining chip. I feel sad and sorry for her parents, khoda "if there is one" sabershoon
bed-e.

Jahanshah, your statement must be a relief to her parents.

ps! she is definitely not a spy and as stated by Rajab, what happened to the bottle of wine!?

I had heard her reports from Iran on NPR

by Socrates (not verified) on

And she reminded me of Christian Amanpour. I don't remember on what subjects she was reporting on but Saberi sounded knowledgable about Iranian society and politics. Not only her arrest and imprisonment is a bad PR for Iranian regime but also it's a loss for Iranians. We have lost an independent voice who reported from inside Iran.

Clear pattern

Haven't you noticed? When Iranian authorities have no evidence to charge people they don't like, they accuse them of spying.

Numerous intellectuals, writers, bloggers, critics, foreign journalists, women and human rights activists, Jews, Bahais... have been charged with "spying" and nearly all of them have been released after the government is done exploiting them for political purposes or after forced "confessions".

So it is safe to say that if anyone is charged with spying, they are almost certainly innocent and their detention will be relatively brief.

Meanwhile real spies are running around under the radar.

No Negative can be proven! Can you "prove" that YOU are not a spy? If you can, then she can too using the same logic.

Wasn't she accused of buying a bottle of Wine?

by Rajab. (not verified) on

What happened to the accusation that she bought a bottle of wine, and then that she was working without license (that apparently is NOT a crime under IRI laws), and now spying?

Buying bottle of wine must have been part of the spying activity on wine trade in iran, or maybe she used the bottle to pass on important messages to the ultimate wine drinker, maybe some ayatollagh.

May I ask politely ask: How do we know she is not a spy?

by Socrates (not verified) on

There is two sides (or more) to every story. Can anybody prove she is not an spy?

ps! those certain Iranians

by Fatollah (not verified) on

ps! those certain Iranians wouldn't live in Iran under IR for 3 months! Then again, they always have lame excuses for not doing living there!

The sneaky bastards are getting away with it, because people like you give their lackys in the United States a voice! You know, The IR's done more than that, they have pacified certain Iranians with certain accomplishments in the United States. They have won them over to their side! These people now believe their own lies.

ps! go ahead and moderate this one as well!

Another spy?!

by Jahanshah Javid on

I could count at least a hundred Iranians and foreigners arrested in Iran in past few years alone who have been charged with spying and eventually freed after a relatively short detention. How do they get away with it?! Sneaky bastards :o)))

anonymous fish

this is going from bad to worse

but what WAS she doing without the proper credentials?  i would have thought she of all people would have known how important it is to protect herself.

this is terrible.
