America is dying. It is self-destructing and bringing the rest of the world down with it. Often referred to as a sub-prime mortgage collapse, this obfuscates the real reason. By associating tangible useless failed mortgages, at least something 'real' can be blamed for the carnage. The problem is, this is myth. The magnitude of this fiscal collapse happened because it was all based on hot air. The banking industry renamed insurance betting guarantees as 'credit default swaps' and risky gambling wagers were called 'derivatives'. Financial managers and banking executives were selling the ultimate con to the entire world, akin to the snake-oil salesmen from the 18th century but this time in suits and ties. And by October 2009 it was a quadrillion-dollar (that's $1,000 trillion) industry that few could understand.

Mr. Kashani supports the neo crazies, neo liberals, conservatives,
liberals, anything and anybody in power in the USA as long as they are
zionists and israel firsters and hate Iran and promise to overthrow the
government in Iran and bring peace, prosperity and democracy IRAQi
style.
You see Mr. Kashani thinks american invasion of Iraq was such a good
thing and no one is intelligent enough to understand how great that was
for Iraq.
Therefore since the occupation and destruction of Iraq was such a
wonderful thing for israel, the same should be repeated in Iran so Mr.
Kashani and his ilk can go to Tehran riding on US tanks and give the
gift of democracy to the Iranian people. And as it happened in Iraq, israeli agents and their allies foment civil, sectarian and religious war in Iran so there is never any challenge to zionist power in the ME.
Thats Mr. Kashani and his ilk for you.

by Farhad Kashani on Wed Nov 05, 2008 04:19 PM PSTAnomymous8, FYI…I’ve been an Obama supporter from day 1. One reason is that it discredits people like you (IRI supporters), IRI regime, leftist loonies like Chavez, and others..who talked so much s..t about the U.S the past few years. It is so beautiful to see all these people get so humiliated. Yet again, you guys have been proved to be wrong, out of touch and ideologically driven. Yet, and yet again!
Smhb, speak for yourself. You have no idea what other people have went through, what they’ve seen, experienced.. What wars they’ve seen, been in. I bet the closest you have come to see war, is the movie Rambo. Also, if it wasn’t for the respect and fear of U.S might, your beloved N Korean and Russian nutjob dictators would’ve swallowed S Korea and Georgia. Actually in Russia’s case, more than just Georgia. I didn’t vote for McCain, but he was absolutely right about the KGB in Putin’s eyes. How shameful it is to support a blunt aggression by Russia on a sovereign country. What a disgrace. A country with a democracy system 100 times more advanced than Russia. U.S, since its foundation has been a pioneer in bringing the world together, to promote liberalism and understanding and cooperation. It hasn’t been easy, and it got tough at times, but as we saw with Obama’s election last night, this country is a beacon of hope for all people around the world. It was tough times during Bush’s, but, millions and millions of people around the world would not have went to street to celebrate an “empire”, or even before that to celebrate and pay tribute to the JFKs and the Lincolns, and the Clintons and the Reagans. Hundreds of millions of people around the world look at Clinton as a world leader, same with JFK, and others. How about some decency?

Appreciate your comments, and looks like we’re on the same page, but I have to respectfully disagree with you on the fist part, although I can tell you are a person who clearly stands on the side of the Iranian people.
The U.S helped the Mujahedeen because they had a common enemy at that time, not because it was “in love” with them, and obviously it is arguable whether it should’ve helped them or not, but that doesn’t justify what they did on 9/11 and prior and after that. Plus, Mujahedeen are a small part of a greater problem called Islamic Fundamentalism which was initiated, inspired (and still gets inspired), and supported (And still get supported) by the Fascist Islamic regime in Iran. As far as Hitler, he hijacked German democracy, Germans didn’t want a lunatic like that in power, but it was too late, kinda like the Iranian people’s story with the other fascist leader, Khomeini.

by smhb on Wed Nov 05, 2008 03:05 PM PSTIm not promoting anti-americanism.... Since when stating the facts is equated with anti-americanism? Aha, I know, since the neo-crazies came to power, thats when.
We have over 750 military bases world wide. Why is that? What would we say if there were 50 foreign military bases on our soil? According to your logic that must be the promotion of democracy and if anyone opposes that then they are terrorists.
When US financial markets are crashing and wealth is diminishing faster than you can even blink your eyes why do we need all these massive expenditures of maintaining troops all over the world and interfering in the internal affiars of other countries?
With a deep and wide spread recession looming on the horizon why are we borrowing billions of dollars from the chinese and ..... to finance wars that is bleeding us to death and bankrupting us?
Is it essential to keep over 30000 troops in S.Korea, or thousands more in Germany and .......? To what end?
Why are we wasting tax payers money and creating untold misery and hardship by pouring billions of dollars into a criminal enterprise called israel?
Why do candidates of both parties for various national office have to be dragged in front of AIPAC and read a written script handed to them by the LOBBY and then pledge their allegiance in order to get elected?
Why are we providing war guarantees to Georgia run by a nut case like Mikheil Saakashvili who is doing his darn best to get us in a shooting war with Russia?
Are you and Mr. Kashani gonna go and join the military and volunteer to fight in Georgia against the Russians? Or you just propose that others do the fighting and dying and you and the rest of the neo-crazies just keep us in a perpetual state of war.
I know posing these questions are subversive to the simple minded. But then again who cares.
Do remember just kissing .... and blindly following the dear leader is popular these days however dissent is the highest form of patriotism.

Just so was the Situation in Iran before the islamic republic was founded. However the motivation of the honorable Iranian Nation founding their Islamic Republic was primarily not economical, so I am said. Logically under these same circumstances the System of the Islamic Republic of Iran can not break down. Moreover can some other Islamic republics be founded. May be in Irak? Or in Afghanistan? Or in both of those countries? May be.
Further more the westerns think an Islamic Republic in Iran or elsewhere depends on existence or non-existence of a handvoll Mullahs. because in their own countries such as the united states the destiny of masses is fixed bya single person. They are taught: so is the democracy. The western man of thestreet can not realize that a Nation as a whole, such as the honorable Iranians, all the 7ty million living in that country have an activ role in thedaily Politics. ALL IRANIANS LIVING IN IRAN ARE FANATIC MOSLEMS and not only the known handfull persons. And please just a question: Who should sanction the Iranian nation? The chinese? Russia? Or europians? These countries are dependants of Iran in many subjects. So I think the MISSION Is Impossible. Greeting

The fact that America is not an Empire is very easy to show. The evidence is that for the first time in the human history the most powerful country in the world is electing a man as a president which is issued from a race constituting its slaves less than 200 years ago!! Can you imagine that an Afghan becomes the president of Iran one day? No there is no such an example over the world. It's just for this simple reason, that Amercia is not an Empire.

by Farhad Kashani on Tue Nov 04, 2008 05:05 PM PSTMr or Mrs. Smhb,
The biggest problem with you guys is that you’re just unable to comprehend the fact that the time when you were able to fool the Iranian people is far over. You still live in history, as it’s apparent in other statements too; but rest assure, you are not fooling anyone.
Don’t give me this B.S that you don’t have anything against the U.S, but rather against the made up term “American Empire”! We all can see that you’re posting opinions from far left socialist anti American websites and enthusiastically posting them here on this website under “News”. Opinions that are outrageously anti American, but shows how disingenuous you people are in bashing (not criticizing) your own country and using the freedom of speech provided to make the statement that this is an “Empire” or there is a “Bush dictatorship”. That’s not news. Don’t you think that conservatives or centrists or others can do the same thing? But the thing is you guys have been taught to use propaganda, not facts. I’m not even gonna get into the fact that America has NEVER BEEN, IS NOT and WILL NEVER BE an empire. It’s very obviously that you guys have been brainwashed enough not to see the spirit and soul of this country. A country that has sacrificed millions of its people to free hundreds of millions of people all the way from Germany, Japan, Italy..to Afghanistan and elsewhere, from tyranny and dictatorship, a country that is the single biggest donor of foreign aid, a country that is pioneer in establishing the United Nation, a country that represents a beacon for democracy, a country that has made the lives of billions around the world far easier by exporting technologies such as internet, a country that has enlighten the world by promoting the culture of self liberation, a country that has been a pioneer in progressive movement and legislations such as women and minority voting, abortion, gay rights, freedom of speech….….can never be an “Empire”. I’m not gonna get into that, but what I’m saying right now is, you aint foolin anyone, and make no mistake, you will be called out anytime you speak against the interest of Iranian people who are dying under the savage rule of the IRI, a regime you apologize for.
Like I said, keep waiting, you'll be waiting a LONG time!

by Izzy (not verified) on Tue Nov 04, 2008 04:33 PM PSTTanya,
I went to Christian Academy for four long years. We had four major empires: BABYLON, PERSIA, GREECE, AND ROME. The 2nd Rome is coming soon. The French leader, Sarkozy, believes that the best solution to the U.S. Ecomomic Crisis is to join European Union. Sarkozy is forming a Mediterranean Union with West Asia and North Africa. IRAN was never part of ROME and had the Parthian and Sassanian dynasties. CHINA and INDIA had their own kingdoms, too. I want you to check out Sarkozy's new speech at E.U. Parliament on Oct. 22nd on youtube. There is hope for a new empire.

You make too many assumptions and jump to conclusions too quickly and in complete haste. I suggest a bit of thinking would be appropriate before you start shooting your mouth.
The title of the article is Death of The American Empire not the demise of the USA.
I really dont think that you are able to distinguish between a republic and an empire. I vote for a republic and a person who represents that republic not an emperor.
The fall of the empire is GOOD for the USA and the rest of the world. But I know that you are not really able to comprehend that. You are too engulfed with your delusions and trapped by your hatred that you cant even see straight.
All empires will eventually fall and self destruct. The American empire is no exception. History is full of them. If you are voting for Obama because you think he is able to reverse the demise of the empire then you are in for a big surprise.
The USA can be a true force for good on this planet when it reverts back to its roots as a republic and dismantles the empire and starts conducting trade, cultural, athletic, scientific, and ....... excahnges with the rest of the world for everyones benefit rather than the few. At that time the USA will enjoy a tremendous amount of popularity and respect not to mention solid economical growth and peace as others will see the real face of the Americans and what they have to offer the rest of teh world.
I hope that when you actually grow up you are able to see things clearly.

Because Mullahs can't keep yelling like louts, showing their finger to the world, killing people massively, spending the money of the oil for Arab support, keeping a high level of inflation and unemployment, foraying the national reserves, ... eternally.
