WASHINGTON (AP) — Iraqi Shiite assassination teams are being trained in at least four locations in Iran by Tehran's elite Quds force and Lebanese Hezbollah and are planning to return to Iraq in the next few months to kill specific Iraqi officials as well as U.S. and Iraqi troops, according to intelligence gleaned from captured militia fighters and other sources in Iraq.

A senior U.S. military intelligence officer in Baghdad described the information Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press. He spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence.

The officer on Wednesday provided Iraq's national security adviser with several lists of the assassination teams' expected targets. He said the targets include many judges but would not otherwise identify them. Iraq's intelligence service is preparing operations to determine where and when the special group fighters will enter the country and is to provide an assessment to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Ey baaba, here we go again!

This is getting boring.  Every couple of months the same allegations are made.  If the US military intelligence has proof of these allegations, they should show them.  What is the point of "anonymous" officers making such claims?  If true, witholding the evidence and just talking about it will cost more US soldiers' lives.  Is there actual proof of these claims?

New Goffer, first off, the

New Goffer, first off, the Iranian regime is a master in using mafia tactics committing crimes and not leaving evidence behind. But, my friend, if we look at the big picture, we all know that its IRI’s policy to support Islamic anti American movements in the region, shites and sunnis alike. Awhile back, Rafsanjani said that U.S has ran into a wall that was created by Iran in Iraq. We all know what that means. I mean Moqtada Sadr who is the head of biggest and most powerful shite terrorist group in Iraq pretty much resides in Iran. So hows that not a proof that Iran is supporting Islamic hit squads? Shouldn’t we use common sense logic? Second of all, the very little evidence that they have left behind is there. Third, U.S is in deep trouble in Iraq, or was, and does not want to open a third front right now with Iran. So, its using strain and patience with Iran. Unfortunately, as like everybody, their patience does have a limit, and my fear is with the war mongering, fascist policies of the Iranian regime continuing to provoke the Americans, that patience runs out and our people pay the price for regime’s devilish tactics, once again.

Look, all I'm saying is that "anonymous" US military authorities keep making these statements over and over again, disappearing for a while and returning to repeat the same statements. If they are true, why the anonymity? Why no action other than these interviews? Find the culprits, arrest them, get them to provide information, including their names, names of their commanders, their whereabouts, etc. This is the same US that took many 'suspects' to Guantanamo Bay to be interrogated, some for years, right? It's the same country, isn't it?! Why all this pussyfooting about this subject when they are capable of the other actions which could save American and Iraqi lives if proven? I think there is no proof, that's why.

IRI has been training hit

by Farhad Kashani on

IRI has been training hit squads to kill Iranian exiled opposition and to execute terrorist operations and to cause chaos in the world for 30 years now. The world is slowly, but surely, waking up to the fact that the IRI is the center of terrorism in the world.

Wag the Dog all over again

These criminals have been playing the politics of deception and distraction for over 8 years now, from the way they shoved their way into the WH, building a case for the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan to their justification for staying there for years to come.

I am not sure if they can sell that garbage or anybody would believe them anymore. Hopefully NOT.

"According to the officer, the training camps are operating under the direction of Quds force commander Brig. Gen. Ghassem Soleimani, with the knowledge and approval of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei."

Throw a couple of known names and expect people to eat it raw, but then again the the target is the American people.

And what's even funnier is the "with the knowledge and approval of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei" phrase that has become a cliché. A simple militia supposedly trained in Iran should know so much about the organizational structure of these operations. As if, in the first day of their training, they are presented with an hiarchical tree of the people in charge where Khamenei sits at the top. LOL

Besides, anyone with a minimum knowledge of Iran knows that "supreme leader" is just that. He runs everything.

But when it regards US military criminality in Iraq, it never was and is the fault of the generals or secretary of defence, but local soldiers. Rumsfeldt was a symbol of innocence.
