Syria and Lebanon have agreed to establish full diplomatic ties as a sign of improvement in the two neighbors' relations.

During a visit to Damascus by The Lebanese President, Michel Suleiman on Wednesday, the two countries decided to open embassies in a landmark move towards healing relations.

Lebanon and Syria have not had full relations since they won independence from France in the 1940s.

President Suleiman and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad "instructed their foreign ministries to take the necessary measures in this regard to conform to the laws of the two countries".

The two presidents also discussed the issue of border demarcation.

The real loser in this chicken game between ME countires is the US and its ally Israel. Those countires of the ME now are coming to understand who are  their friends and who are their enemies. They understand that they need to peacefully co-exist with one another and not count on som rich bully to help them
