War in Georgia : The Israeli Connection
Ynet / Arie Egozi

The military cooperation between the countries developed swiftly. The fact that Georgia's defense minister, Davit Kezerashvili, is a former Israeli who is fluent in Hebrew contributed to this cooperation.

"His door was always open to the Israelis who came and offered his country arms systems made in Israel," the source said. "Compared to countries in Eastern Europe, the deals in this country were conducted fast, mainly due to the defense minister's personal involvement."

Among the Israelis who took advantage of the opportunity and began doing business in Georgia were former Minister Roni Milo and his brother Shlomo, former director-general of the Military Industries, Brigadier-General (Res.) Gal Hirsch and Major-General (Res.) Yisrael Ziv.

Frankly, I think this back and forth is losing its informative content for general readers, and I am not interested in exchange of ad hominem.

A last point of clarification, I use the term "US condom" for Israel or Georgia as a political short-hand for colonial base of big powers. Too bad you don't seem to get it and are inclined to personal platitudes.

And of course I agree with you about Russian, French ...whatever during Iran-Iraq war, but I don't see the relevance to present argument? If you are telling me that Iran has not developed a defense industry of ITS OWN, and all its missile programs, tanks, small military planes, its nascent space and nuclear program is all figment of MY IMAGINATION, so be it!

You can choose to call me an IRI whatever you like and deny those realities based on your dislike of the regime in Iran. You can continue to believe Iran is not an independent country with an independent foreign policy. But hey, most Iranians know these programs EXIST, they have developed them despite all international odds and isolation, and are damn proud of it too.

To begin with, you can not possibly ask people to be all proper with you when you use language such as "used condom" in your writings. I first suggest you look into
the mirror before you accuse others of being rude.
Again, as to arms sales by different nations. So what? Are you upset that Russia is arming the IRI to the Teeth? Russia does the same thing around the world. China does the same. And do you remember the SOVIETS? They all use it as a tool in international relations and they all financially benefit from it. Yet you somehow have a problem if the US does it or if Israel does it. The Russians and French armed Iraq to the teeth during and after its war with the IRI.
Was Iraq a Russian or French puppet? It seems to me that you have double standards for one country's weapon sales compared to another. Russian weapon sales to the IRI is not evil in intent but Israeli weapon sales to Georgia is evil. US intent on arming its allies is evil but Russia (Soviet) or the IRI arming its allies is not. Get real.
What are you exactly asking for? Fairness? There is no such thing. All these nations (US, France, England,China, Russia.. .) are competing against each other for influence, trade deals and ideological dominance. So, you prefer the IRI in all these matters? Good for you. May the best in this competition win. I highly doubt its going to be the IRI. China and Russia will drop the IRI in a milli second when the price by the West is right. They dropped Saddam in a nano second. Do you think Khamenei has a better chance?
Please don't boast about the IRI weapons technology. There is nothing to boast about. Its either Chinese or North Korean technology. Only countries that can't get their hands
on the US and EU technology, end up buying from China and North Korea The air plane they built are copies of the US F5. Do you know when the F5's were made? 1950's & 1960's. The current Russian air defense system is also useless as evidenced by the recent successful Israeli strike on the Syrian nuclear site. Same radar system as the IRI's. You are elevating the IRI to places it will never reach. Keep on dreaming.
I am sorry, I just don't understand where you are coming from and where you are going by boasting about IRI's fake capabilities and idiotic policies. Are you a socialist? Communist? Islamic fundamentalist? Again, does your baba work for the IRI? I am serious. I
am just trying to see where you are coming from to understand how you actually believe that the IRI's technology is advanced. Maybe, I and others can relate better to you.

Although you seem to be too rude to deserve a better understanding, but for the sake of clarity I'll comment on your post.

It is true that Israel sells arms to many other countries. In fact, one of Israel's main roles has been arms dealership, in particular in cases where the US could not bypass certain transparency rules required by its own congress.  And Israel's main bread and butter besides American charity IS arms deals. That's why Israel is so much in love with conflicts and wars, it nourishes on conflicts.  To begin with, it was created by the western powers as a bully base in an area they had colonial designs on its resources.

As far as Iran also selling arms, you got it right. That's THE MAIN REASON that the US and Israel are so angry about Iran now, besides the hindrance to their old oil designs: Iran's emergence as a power in the region which instead of spending its oil income to purchase and run American and Israeli military industrial complex, is relying on itself! Not only that, Iran is also substituting their extra expensive and profitable junk with its own cheap junk.

The bickering that you hear now about Iran sanctions over nuclear technology had started over its missile capability and space technology. Clinton's policy against Iran was worse than Bush's now. And that's why the main biting item of the first sanction was ban on OUTFLOW of arms from Iran, not the inflow as they claimed the reason was to deprive terrorist Iran from military equipments.

Regarding Georgia being aother used condom of the US, you can hardly miss that given the news now, no?! After all, the Georgia's puppet was brought up by US funded rose revolution, he served the US pipeline policy of Central Asia by being one of the main architects of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to deny Iran out of Caspian direct distribution, and even kissed the big boss' ass by third biggest volunteer troops to Iraq from a tiny country. And now Saakashvili can go and cry for help, what did Pentagon tell him?

" You want your 2000  troops back from Iraq to help you, here they are!"

I have made that point more clear in my recent blog: Discoloration of US-Soros revolutions.

Jaleho, The Israeli Expert

by Asghar Taragheh on

With your twisted idiotic logic, the IRI is the used condom of the Russians, Hezbollah are the used condoms of the IRI and Jaleho is the used ......I should not say it) .

The Israelis had sold the Georgians about $300 mil in weapons during the past 10 years. They also actually withheld on selling them advanced systems at the request of the Russians smarty (this will actually get them some brownie points when the Russians try to sell the IRI advance systems) . Also, there were many other nations arming the Georgians. So what? Israel sells Arms to many nations (Turkey, India, China, US, the EU). The Russian sell to everyone and anyone with cash as well. Actually, the IRI also sells to many nations as well.

Your logic is really really twisted. Its such a shame that someone as educated as you seem, has such a retarted outlook of the world.

I wonder about your background. Does your Baba work for the IRI or something and you are in the US getting educated? Maybe this will help me understand your logic better.

Kashani, YNET and HAARETZ are ISRAELI

by Jaleho on

news not Iranian, doh! I just gave the Haaretz article hoping that it would help you understand the point of YNET being Israeli.

See, clearly some Israelis were as dumb as Saakashvili himself to think that they could manage to kill Russians and get away with it, or have their American boss come and save them!!

News for you: the same thing will happen if Israelis DARE to attack Iran hoping that America would save them. Like I have said before, in cases such as these, America would flush the used condoms like the Georgia or Israel before committing suicide of engaging in a war that would be their kiss of death!!

Israel is only one country

by Farhad Kashani on

Israel is only one country that Georgia has military ties with, so what? I mean are you serious? Russia and U.S hold military maneuvers, U.S and China do too, U.S and India also, Iran has military ties with Russia, Sudan has military ties with Russia and China….get my point? That’s normal, it’s natural, always been like that. What is this twisted conspiracy theory belief and this sick Israel – U.S hate obsession with some Iranians?

Attention for the BLIND: YNET was the source!

Jewish Georgian minister: Thanks to Israeli training, we're fending off Russia

By Haaretz Service

Jewish
Georgian Minister Temur Yakobshvili on Sunday praised the Israel
Defense Forces for its role in training Georgian troops and said Israel
should be proud of its military might, in an interview with Army Radio.

"Israel should be proud of its military which trained Georgian
soldiers," Yakobashvili told Army Radio in Hebrew, referring to a
private Israeli group Georgia had hired.

Yakobashvili, Georgia's minister of reintegration, added that this
training provided Georgia with the know-how needed to defend itself
against Russian forces in the clashes which erupted last last week in
the separatist region of South Ossetia.

Yakobashvili
said that a small group of Georgian soldiers had able to wipe out an
entire Russian military division due to this training.

"We killed 60 Russian soldiers just yesterday," said Yakobashvili.
"The Russians have lost more than 50 tanks, and we have shot down 11 of
their planes. They have enormous damage in terms of manpower,"

Yakobashvili warned that the Russians would try and open another
battlefront in Abkhazia and he denied reports that the Georgian army
was retreating. "The Georgian forces are not retreating. We move our
military according to security needs."

"There was no attack on the airport in Tbilisi. It was a factory
that produces combat airplanes," said Yakobashvili referring to the
attacks in the country's capital.

"The whole world is starting to understand that what is happening
here will determine the future of this region, the future price of
crude oil, the future of central Asia, and the future of NATO," the
Georgian minister added.

According to him, "every bomb that falls over our heads is an attack on democracy, on the European Union and on America."

    Israel has done

    by Farhad Kashani on

Israel has done unacceptable things in the past and still doing, however, how sick can your mind be to relate every single thing that happens in the world, including Darfur, Iran – U.S feud, Islamic Fundamentalism, Russia – Georgian war, September 11th, Iraq War, ….to Israel?? How sick? If that’s not a sign of a sick mind, I don’t know what is.

To all Palestinians enthusiasts: Please take your Palestinian-Israeli crusade to an Arab blog. It is not in the interest of Iranian nation to "liberate" the Palestinians. Iranians need to liberate themselves from the hands of colonial Islamists ruling elite first and foremost.

Thanks. And I wish all of our palestinians success but please leave Iran alone.

    by soufi on

Blood suckers in Tel Aviv were beaten by Hezbollah rag-tag army last year. Therefore, they could only suck little Lebanese blood.  They could not get their hands on Palestinain blood over the last couple of weeks due to the cease fire forced by EU, nor could they suck iranian blood, that they so badly want. They are now explring blood import from Georgia. That is the reason....

Israel could not have anything to do with this. They are no bodies. They got no money, no technology or anything. They are baggers whose hand is always towards the United States. If you like to analyze, talk of the US policy in Georgian State.
I agree with Russia's position. If a country in your door step, does not respect the neighbors, or the security concerns of the region and moves to work for unknown, far a way countries, get rid of them. They are trouble. Simple.
bottom line: Iran and Russia must unite in this security matter.
