A senior Iranian cleric says the US and the Israeli regime are waging a psychological war to develop their policy of 'Iranophobia'.
"Iran cannot ignore threats as mere psychological warfare," the Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council, Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, told IRINN, stressing that the Iranian nation must remain 'vigilant' at all times.
Rafsanjani warned against the presence of foreign forces in the region, saying that hegemonic powers seek to gain access to the natural resources of the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf region.
The US and Israel have said they might resort to a military option to prevent Iran from developing nuclear technology.
Tehran has described those threats as psychological warfare and says Iran will give a crushing response to invaders if the country comes under any attack.
Iran recently conducted maneuvers in the Persian Gulf during which it successfully test-fired long and medium range missiles.
Tehran's military exercises were in reaction to Israel's war games in June which were widely viewed as a bid to demonstrate Tel Aviv's readiness for military action in the region.
