Oil, Israel, Iran, America and the High Cost of a Single War-Like Remark

One remark by a minor Israeli cabinet officer hinting at a possible US or Israeli attack on Iran has sent oil prices up by a record $11/barrel to a record $139 per barrel Friday. That should tell us what would happen if the Bush administration were crazy enough to attack Iran, or to let its vassal state of Israel do it.
Most analysts say an actual attack on Iran would send oil almost immediately to past $300 per barrel....

Attacking Iran?,

by Mehdi Mazloom (not verified) on

Please lets clarify few points.
It is not as much about attacking the country itself to bring it into submission (Japan & Germany for example). Rather Attacking the leadership itself, to replace it with a government which poses less danger to it surroundings and to its people.

The late shah of Iran's brutality notwithstanding, lets face it, the 1979 revolution had brought nothing of value to the people of Iran in general, and its burgeoning, restless and highly educated young generation. This regime has been focusing and channeling its military, economy and financial resources to advance their own backward fundamentalist Islamic shi'ite agenda throughout the region.

Knowing the Iranians as much as Israeli leaders know them, (remember some of its past and present leaders were born and grew up in Iran). They know these mullahs inside out. Israeli know very well that these Mullahs are nothing more then cowered and loud mouth. As soon as they see the first sign of danger, they will run deep into 100m (300ft) deep bunkers to save their own lives. Akh-mag-e-nedjat (some call him Ahmadinejad) himself is the biggest cowered of them all. He is like a barking dog. lots of barking with no bite.

Just consider these facts, then draw your own conclusion:
Far of oil shortage. Iran produces 4.3M BB of oil a day. 2M consumed internally. Push comes to shove, Saudi Arabia will flip the switch and within hours make up that shortage.
Iran IMPORTS (for god sake) 40% of its gasoline from Kuwait and Turkey. It won't take much effort to stop that flow will it.
There are more then 60 different groups opposing this regime inside and outside Iran. Most are well funded and supported by the West. That includes the dreaded MEQ one which the West had recently de-listed them as terror group.
80% of the population in Iran loath and hate this regime, and wishes to see it go.
The real objective for all these bellicose declarations from the west, is to galvanize the Iranian to take to the street and remove this backward regime, replace it with a secular government elected by the people and for the people.

This is not a question of whether Iran is, or is not entitled to nuclear technology. The clear answer is. The people of Iran are, this regime is not.

Finally, no Israeli leader, (and other western countries for that matter) will wait until these Mullahs will fulfill their deranged messianic mission to return that illusive hidden Mehdi by driopping nuclear devise on Israel, to tell the rest of the world "we told you so".

This regime is a very detribalizing group in the region, one way or another it must be removed.

Very interesting

by American Wife (not verified) on

Very interesting reading in this article.  At some point I'd like to post a few questions.  I'm in fear of starting a stampede to see who can get completely off track in the shortest period of time, but nonetheless, I'm going to pursue my quest for knowledge!  I'm in the somewhat unique position of being American... what the hell does that actually mean anyway, but another question, another time... married to an Iranian.  Although it might not be as unique as I previously thought.  With SCD speaking up more and more, it seems there might be more of us at this party than I thought (might that be an article in the making as well?).  But anyway, I digress.  My point is simply that there is much made of the threat of war against Iran made in the media... while I and everyone I TALK to seems ardently opposed to such an act.  JJ seems to promote every article there is stating the "behind the scene" and on-going movement by Dumb and Dumber to strike, yet I am convinced that it's totally unrealistic and unlikely.  I'd like to spend some time gathering my thoughts and formulating my questions.  I'm trying to bridge the gap between the average American, who quite admitedly doesn't know jack-shit, and the average Iranian.   Note the word "average"... I'd like to avoid attracting the extremists...lol.   Until then, I'll keep on reading and watching.
