Escape

Photo essay: Tehran, Shomal, Kashan

Escaping from regular dinner parties at relative's places in Tehran needs a very good excuse. Thus my family planned a short trip to north of iran. Starting from Noor we went all the way to Namakabrood and then Masooleh. Each city took a day. After returning to Tehran there was a break at Darband and then we went to Kashan, a very historical place with great architecture. -- Kamal Bourghani

Without Permission

by Anonymousinq8 (not verified) on

Nice pictures... but some of them made me uneasy.. seems like some of the people were either offended or surprised being photographed without permission.

Hi I think your pictures are great.

But I don't think one can just take pictures of people without their permission. In the Middle east and most Muslims countries there is an expectation of privacy in a public space... especially when it comes to women. Even in France, everyone has the right to privacy for their face. It think it is uncomfortable taking a photo to people who are not exposing themselves in a public event (ie. like in a march, protest and so on), but they are merely going about their business in their daily life.

Great job. About taking pictures from people, I am not sure how most people would react seeing some one taking their pictures. It could get awkward.

Fantastic album. Thanks

Thank you for the pictures.  They are lovely!  Some friends of mine from Lutheania told me last night that their friends (!) had come back from a trip to Iran and have been telling everyone how they were stunned to see things so dramatically different  from the bleak image they had been fed.  They were so moved by the beauty of Iran, but in particular by the warmth, humanity, kindness and generosity of Iranian people.  They are going to give me the video of their trip which I will show here soon.

Really loved them all. It's therapeutic to get an actual picture of what is real as opposed to all the nonsense one hears in the mainstream media. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing beautiful shots of real life in Iran; really enjoyed the nice combination of people, nature, and places.

On my trip to Iran 3 years ago, I was also rather obsessed with taking pictures of oh so handsome very old men in different cities.
