Radio Zamaneh: Peyman Aref, the jailed Iranian journalist and activist, has been on a hunger strike for four days.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that he began his hunger strike in protest against his “illegal” imprisonment.
In the past few years, Aref has been arrested three times by the authorities. He was first arrested in March of 2010 in Behsht-e Zahra Cemetery with a number of other political activists while visiting the grave of Neda Agha-Soltan, the young woman who was shot to death during the street demonstrations that followed the disputed re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009.
He was released the next day, only to be arrested two days later and sentenced to a year in prison, 74 lashes and a lifetime ban from journalism and all forms of political activity for “acting against national security and insulting the president.”
Aref served out his sentence and received 74 lashes before his release last October.
He was arrested again on March 14, 2012, and the charges against him this time have not been announced yet.

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sat Mar 24, 2012 02:03 PM PDTstay in power is through using power dishonestly against innocent people. Mullahs are liars and all talk and most iranians know it, this is why islam has been destroyed by the IRI in the hearts of the people that actually use the hearts god gave them. If you are a basij, or a police officer, or any govt employee and you have not changed your path against thsi regime after seeing this video and experiencing the last few years it is because you are a traitor to all Iranians. Peoples rage can only grow until this IRI and its leaders are out of government and served in prison. Life will get worse and continue a downward path for all in iran until we take action together and bring this inhumanity down.

When are regime resort to barbaric behavior such as seen here in this picture, you know that their days are numbered.
So many brave Iranians are choosing self-dignity even if that means a life in captivity. We owe them our gratitude and full support in their resistance and for a sustain campaign for their immediate and unconditional freedom.
My hats off to each and every one of these brave souls.
