RAHANA: Mohammad Pour Abdollah, 29, was a leftist student activist and blogger at the time of his arrest. He entered Tehran University in 2003 to study chemistry.
Pour Abdollah was first detained during the government's wave of arrests of leftist students on January 14, 2008, and was transferred to Evin prison. He was released on bail of $80,000 after 41 days of detention on February 24, 2008. He was arrested again on February 12, 2009 and was transferred to solitary confinement under pressure and interrogations for 30 days.
Prior to this, Pour Abdollah had been summoned in August and in December to appear in court to explain about his earlier arrests, but his appearance was postponed due to the absence of the Prosecutor. He was arrested six days before his scheduled February 18, 2009 court session. Mohammad Pour Abdollah was sent to Ghezel Hessar Prison, a facility where hardened criminals such as drug traffickers and murderers are kept, due to his "lack of cooperation with the investigators of his case."
On April 12, 2009, after two months of detention, Mohammad Pour Abdollah was once again sent to court and was asked to sign documents presented by his interrogators. Because of the ambiguous and unsubstantiated charges, Pour Abdollah refused to sign the documents, and this became the basis for the extension of his detention. Consequently, he was sent to solitary confinement in Evin Prison, and after ten days of threats and intimidation, he was sent back to the Ghezel Hessar Prison.
On October 12, 2009, after eight months in prison in "temporary detention" inside Ghezel Hessar Prison, Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court under Judge Salavati, tried Mohammad Pour Abdollah. Two months later, in December 2009, his sentence of six years on prison on charges of “propaganda against the state” and "assembly and collusion to commit a crime" for attending the Student’s Day Rally in 2007, was announced.
On April 21, 2010 Branch 36 of Tehran Appeals Court reduced Pour Abdollah’s sentence to three years in prison.
Mohammad Pour Abdollah is now illegally serving his sentence inside Ghezel Hessar prison in Karaj, where most dangerous criminal are kept, without regard to the principle of separating prisoners according to their crimes. Having served half of his prison term, he is denied release on probation, a right stipulated in the law.

"I just am lost at where to start with the IRI and it's crimes"
by Zendanian on Thu Mar 29, 2012 03:14 PM PDTSending daily letters of protest to all officials of Islamic Republic (as all their e-mails are provided in here on a daily basis) and maintaining such a pressure through a campaign of sustained saturation could be a start.
This simply means: getting as many community organizations, friends and other individuals (Iranians and non-Iranians) involved in such an effort on a daily basis, that indeed be a very good start. Just imagine if everyone who visited this site also sent a letter of protest to IR on a daily basis.
Islamic Republic of Hell throughout its miserable history has shown that it has zero regard for Human Rights, liberty, justice or human lives, yet this same monstrosity has been pushed back and forced to retreat, many times, when enough international pressure and focus has been applied.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE YOUR OWN POWER, RESOURCES AND ABILITIES TO FORCE ISALMIC REPUBLIC TO RETREAT.

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Thu Mar 29, 2012 01:12 PM PDTI'm lost at where to start with the IRI and it's crimes. All I can say is that since the Nasrin Soutoudehs exist in iran under these dire circumstances means that iranians do have the determination and leadership it will take to bring the IRI down. I just pray Iranians start to see some support to spead up this painful event and get both King and Country united and free once again. Those of us outside Iran it is our job to get the west to acknowledge and change its politics and crimes against Iranians, help from them is unlikely until that happens. I heard Obama call the late shah a dictator as the USA supports extremists, that is a bad omen, showing nothing has changed w.r.t. Iran Policy.
Defend and Support Mohammad Pour Abdollah!

Dear virtual family, please take a moment to send this protest letter or use your own version.
Please keep in mind that as we're entering Spring, for our most courageous political prisoners there will be no Spring to be exprienced; apart from their family members, deprived of the most basic rights inside jails of IR.
Sending a letter would take only a few moments for us, but it would mean so much for them. Many thanks in advance.
