Sourian Makes it to the Greco Roman Final
by Faramarz on Sun Aug 05, 2012 08:10 AM PDTThis morning, Iran’s 55 Kg Greco Roman wrestler Hamid Mohammad Sourian Reihanpour beat his Danish opponent in the semifinal and made it to the final against Byramov of Azerbaijan.
The female ref (!) for Sourian’s semifinal match was Frenchwoman Regine Legleut who shook hands with Sourian a couple of times and raised his hands at the end which I am sure did not go well with the Regime in Iran!
The final match is at 11:03 am (west coast) today.
The first Gold Medal is in sight!

I hope they can win some wrestling medals!

by Oon Yaroo on Sat Aug 04, 2012 05:47 PM PDTThanks for the quick report. No wonder you have been silent you must have been following the games. By the way, this Mahlagha Jombo-zorg looks like a Fatti Komando! Are you sure IRR hasn't dispatched its Basiji force to the Olympics?
Thanks again!
Iran on Day 7
by Faramarz on Sat Aug 04, 2012 05:36 PM PDTToday 9 Iranian athletes were in action at the Olympics.
In Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions qualifications (that’s where you shoot from 50 meters away at 3 different targets) Ealaheh Ahmadi and Mahlagha Jambozorg (always be careful with women who are called Mahlagha, picture included below) didn’t do so well and got eliminated.
//www.london2012.com/athlete/jambozorg-mahlag...
In Women’s Single Scull Rowing, Soulmaz Abbasiazad finished in the 20’s, but managed to return safely to the shore!
In the Men’s Athletics 400 meter qualifications, Sajjad Hashemiahangari finished at 47.75 seconds and did not qualify for the semis on Sunday. Those who qualified ran in 44-45 seconds range.
Just imagine how much faster Sajjad could have been running if he was imagining that he was chasing a chicken or two!
In 100 meter qualifications, Reza Ghasemi clocked at 10.30 seconds and was eliminated. It is noteworthy that he was in the same heat as the English-Iranian-Moroccan Adam Gemili who qualified at 10.10 seconds. The photo finish picture below shows Reza at the 4th place and Adam at the 2nd place.
Give some credit to the Brits when it’s due.
//www.london2012.com/externalmodules/AT/ATM00...
In Men’s 20 Km Race Walk Ebrahim Rahimian didn’t even finish the race.
You would think that Iranians are at least good at fast walking!
In Men’s Boxing, Mehdi Toloutbandpi (say what!) lost to a better opponent from Kazakhstan 19-10 while Ehsan Rouzbahani looked good against his Turkish opponent and beat him 18-12.
Great job Ehsan and on to the next round!
Finally, Saeed Mohammadpourkarkargh (say what!) finished 5th in Men’s 94 Kg weightlifting.
So far we have got one Bronze in weightlifting and one 6th place finish in Women’s Air Rifle.
The Iranian sports authorities have promised 200 gold coins for a gold medal, 150 for a silver, 100 for a bronze and a car for the 6th place athlete, but no chicken!
Maybe that's what's needed!

Later on today, Iran's Heavy weight boxer (91 Kg) and the flag bearer Ali Mazaheri will fight his Cuban opponent.
OK, we are good at "Kotak-kaari", so are the Cubans! We'll see.
Iran's cyclist, Alireza Haghi competed in 44 Km Time Trial and finished 36th out of 37. The Turkish guy who finished last was riding a tri-cycle, I heard!
In Archery, Milad Vaziri lost to his Mexican opponent 7-1 and was eliminated.
OK, please don't put an apple on your head if Milad is around! He is no William Tell!

by yolanda on Tue Jul 31, 2012 11:37 PM PDTI am still waiting for Iran's 1st medal. At this point, Iran with the populaton of 70 million people has not won a single medal!
North Korea with the population of 25 million people has won 4 medals including 3 gold! Qatar with less than 2 million people has won one medal!

I hope the drought will end soon!
Wow
by Dr. Mohandes on Tue Jul 31, 2012 06:37 AM PDTWhat a comprehensive and informative report. your next assignment would be to be an embedded reported in the sexiest female swimming team... and we will see if you still maintain that focus and precision. if you can 't make it then we will just have to think of another career for you.
I wish the swimmer guy would have negotiated to gain those seconds he needed to advance. that would have certainly made the headlines.
Iran on Day 3
by Faramarz on Tue Jul 31, 2012 06:25 AM PDTToday in Rowing (single scull) quarter finals, both Iranian athletes Soulmaz Abbasizad and Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh finished dead last and were eliminated.
OK, we are not good at rowing. Let's try asymmetric speed boats in the Strait of Hurmoz instead!
In Men's 100 Meter Freestyle swimming, Mohammad Bidaryan finished his preliminary heat at 52.93 seconds and was eliminated. The best time was by an American swimmer at 48.19 seconds.
OK, we are not good at swimming either. Well, at least he finished the race!
In Women's Archery, Zahra Dehghanabnavi lost to her Mexican opponent 6-2 and was eliminated.
OK, we are not good at bows and arrows. Well, neither were the Cowboys against the Indians, but they came out ahead!
Finally, later on today, in 64 Kg Boxing, Mehdi Toloutibandpi will go against this Spanish opponent.
Iran's Boxer Wins
by Faramarz on Mon Jul 30, 2012 03:05 PM PDTToday, Iran's Light Heavyweight boxer (81 Kg) Ehsan Rouzbahani beat his Colombian opponent 12-10 and advanced to the round of 16 on Saturday against the Turkish opponent.
OK, we are good at fighting and boxing (kotak-kaari!)
Today, Iran's ping pong champion Noshad Alamiyan lost to his German opponent 4-0.
OK, we are good at ping pong only if it is for money (teeghee!)
S.K's question
by Shirzadegan on Mon Jul 30, 2012 02:47 PM PDT"no innocent was ever killed under the Pahlavi regime? " Soosan Khanoom
Dear S.K,
Here we are talking about a monster flag that has a blood of our dear sister Neda on it. Are you able to see that?
Here we are NOT judging Iran's history. Pahlavi regine is another story for another day.
Even if I go to jail, for thousand years I never carry that monster flag on my shoulder. Never, ever. That is commonly called "principal". Each individual has certain degree of "moral".
Pluse I don't think those idiots who put us in this mess for 33 years are innocents. Correct word is "Khaen". so the question should be read as : no KHAEN was ever killed under the Pahlavi regime?
You go boy
by Dr. Mohandes on Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:36 AM PDTLook at you all drooling and getting all excited.
Tonight is the night man. Drop politices and the olympics and go to that bar in the corner of 8th and Brandon and lay those magical moves on the first hottie your eyeiranian eyes on.
Oh lord. Please hear our prayer tonight. We pray here so you will help Faramarz here find a hot, poundy and deliciois EEC (eastern euAmen.
ropean chic) tonight. Amen. In the name of Jesus.

SK joonam There is an undeniable connection
by Dr. Mohandes on Sun Jul 29, 2012 09:45 PM PDTOkay first of alll kido ...take your chador and wrap it around your waste, and pull your veil up, we need to talk!:)
Never say Never sweety. You can not claim that There definitely is no connection between these seemingly young and innocent-looking athlethes and the IRI. For one thing you and I simply don't know and could know and ARE NOT ALLOWED to know, of exactly what is going with these guys and the process of qualification. I am not trying to take anything away from their hard work and the fact that they really sweated it out and competed but when you deep down and start digging hard you are bound to find an amoo or dayee or khale...in some god damn sazman or organization At least for a couple of these kids who in addition to their hardwork put in a good word or two. Remember this sweetcheeks:) in this country you CAN NOT get far through HARDWORK alone. You need other necessary ingridients as well.
And i also concure with fesenjoon. Don't you think that the same regime and government which for various, arbitrary reasons chooses to qualify and determine who can participate in a political process, so as to make a statement and get a message across, would apply the same strategy to the team of athletes who are about to set foot on an international arena? Any newbie, or anyone ke ghar karde az khoone khale or amme or as it is more common nowaday from his gf's home, can just walk right in and just sign that book and have a fair and square try at this baby? Dear. If you believe that you have got another thing coming...
Bottomline, eeen deees country everything happens for a reason and more importantly because you know someone that can make something happen for you.
Don't deny it. Think about it. absorb it. love it. sleep on it. and the get back to me with your conclusions.:)
Athletes who refused to march under Islamist flag of Shame....
by zolfali1 on Sun Jul 29, 2012 01:33 PM PDTdespite the hysterical reaction of one commenter here, lots of very high ranking Iranian athletes chose not to march under the islamist regime's shamefull flag of rape, toprture, murder and treason, and paid the price for it

wrong. It is NOT the flag of "Iran"
