Sarkozy: Military strike would "trigger war in Middle East"

French president on consequences of attacking Iran

dpa - French President Nicolas Sarkozy warned against any military intervention against Iran over its nuclear programme, saying a strike on Iran would "trigger war and chaos in the Middle East." At his annual New Year‘s address to diplomats in Paris, Sarkozy warned "a military intervention would not solve the problem (of Iran‘s nuclear programme) but would trigger war and chaos in the Middle East and maybe the world." France would "do everything to avoid a military intervention," he said, calling instead for "much stronger sanctions" against Tehran >>>

European Union foreign ministers are expected to agree to a phased ban on the purchase of oil from Iran, as the West sends warships through the Gulf.

Sure Thing, TL!

But are you still up for a tequila night at a red-neck bar with some real country music and dance? I'm more interested in the philosophical talk, afterwards.

Here's what I just wrote under a news item:

"Look at IR's Navy and Air Force and tell me if you think, With Such Great Military Capabilities, IR cannot take on all the western military powers single-handedly!

At least that's what they want the whole world to believe.

Let's not forget, though, the great majority of members of IRGC top brass were country bumpkins whose only military training came during the war with Iraq. A war they couldn't win, but decided to drag it on for eight long years.

IR's military power is like Russia's in the Soviet era: A huge paper tiger!"

The Dumbest Analysis!

They seem to suffer from training deficiency in the usage of diplomatic jargon! It remind me of the euphoria displayed by some IR apologists when NIE report came out in December of 2007!

Shut Up Sarko

by Simorgh5555 on

We know why YOU don't want  a war along with all your other Eurotrash friends who have invested and sustained these Terrorist Occupiers in Iran. Your country  gave refuge to Khomeini in the outskirts of Paris and allowed him to propogate his filth to brainwash millions of Iranians into following a road to oblivion.

DEATH TO THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC

Uh, that one.......

by پندارنیک on

You could've given me a better hint........Now........Sarkozy has been dubbed as Markozy for his close (political) relationship with Germany's Angela Merkel...............More will be heard of him after France being downgraded by S&P.

They all know that they have to swallow the bitter medicine.......they have to learn how to live with nuclear (peace loving) Iran.................and that's that.

I find the discrepancy between the text on the video and what the reporter says just a touch naughty...............There's a huge difference between "the Iranian regime", and "this Iranian regime"................

More Sanctions!

by G. Rahmanian on

More Sanctions is the way to go. The regime will implode! And Iranians can bring the regime down by nation-wide strikes.
