رجانیوز امروز ادعا کرده بود که شلاق خوردن سمیه توحیدلو «ادعای دروغ» است، خبری که به نظر می‌رسد هدفی جز مخدوش کردن واقعیت شرم‌آور این برخورد دستگاه قضایی و تحت الشعاع قرار دادن ابعاد تاسف بار این اقدام ندارد.

او تاکید کرد: برخلاف آنچه رسانه های اقتدارگرا سعی در القای آن دارند، حکم شلاق برای سمیه توحیدلو دقیقا اجرا شده و مانند همه خانم‌ها که حکم شلاق آنها را از روی لباس اجرا می‌کننند، به همین نحو اجرا شده است. از نوشته‌ی مسئولانه و متواضعانه‌ی ایشان هم که گفته‌اند اجرای شلاق در واقع «نمادین» و با هدف تحقیر بوده، نباید اینطور برداشت شود که شلاق زده نشده است. دقیقا زده شده و تنها ایشان از سر تواضع و برای اینکه هیچ اغراق و کار غیر اخلاقی انجام نشود یا دوستانش نگران نشوند، توضیح داده‌اند که زدن شلاق اینطور نبوده که بدن ایشان را زخم کند یا جای آن باقی بماند. بلکه بیشتر به قصد تحقیر بوده است.

What types of activist will Somayeh be after flogging?  Will she be more determined on human rights subjects?

Definitly yes.  As long as she is "alive" and hopefully healthy she becomes more determined to do her job.

Can't we be a bit creative in our comments please?  We all know the barbaric is the more appropriate word to describe flogging, but so what?

Here read Tala Rassai's story.  Basically in Iran if you're caught doing somthing "unIslamic" and you're rich, you pay your way out.  If you don't have money you get flogged.

80s, 90s, 00s or 10s, doesn't matter!  Law of the land is the Sharia law and you won't want to be the one making headlines by being flogged.   Many won't even make it to the headlines and are just not known.

I have no doubts that Iranian women were flogged in the 80s and possibly 90s. But I have my doubts about flogging in 2011.

The movie My Tehran For Sale was made in Iran and was ready for release just when the 2009 election happened and as a result it never got on the screens in Iran but was shown worldwide to large audiences and found its way back to Iran again. 

In that movie they talked about few young women who were flogged.  In a country where women are stoned you think flogging is of any consequence?

The actress who played in that movie was recently arrested She is a well known and popular actress and has played in many other movies.
