MP submits resignation to protest Majles' failure to question Ahmadinejad

Bloomberg: Iran’s parliament refused to allow Ali Motahari, one of its members, to step down, after he said he was quitting in protest at the body’s failure to question President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad about allegedly illegal actions, the Tehran Times reported. The parliament rejected his resignation by 155 votes to 31, with 12 abstentions, the newspaper said. If he's serious, he should just stay away from the Majles. Nobody can stop him from staying home. But more than likely he's just posturing.

As the son of "Shahid" Motahhari, he's a major opponent of Ahmadinejad. More importantly, he's no fan of the Supreme Leader, especially after he ordered the Majles to take back their demand to question Ahmadinejad. But Motahhari is at gutless as the rest of the loyal opposition. He's not going to sit at home. He's comfortable enough in his seat in the Majles where he can continue to grumble.
