"Baghdad" - is itself a Persian word

When the Persians helped overthrow the Umayyads, together with the Abbassids - they convinced the Abbasids to move the capital from Damascus to "Baghdad" - itself a Persian word: ("Dad" like Dad-gah, means justice, "Bagh" is arguably either God, or Garden.) 

The city plan of "Baghdad" was also a Persian city plan. So, people in "Baghdad" studying Persian, is like a story coming full circle!

Obviously A-ragh [Iraqh] was a Persian territory. I belive all the regional countries should be tought Parsi as their 2nd or 3rd language. After all Parsi is language of Peace and Love :)

in other hand somthing really bungs me about these tazies black rock woshippers learning Persian poetry. After all it was mohammad (tazie) who burned down thousand of years of persian literature, poetry, philosophy and medicine book.

I was looking at a map that was only about 100 years old and saw no Iraq.

It's a modern invention, created with an imperalist ruler and pencil.  Come on people open your eyes!!!

They are persians too.  Irani all the way.

Iran isn't influencing iraq, iran is Iraq!

Sad that the Qajars were so weak and dminated by the Shia Clergy that Iran lost part of her territory, but lets not make things up on this site.  One day we are going to hear that kuwait and bahrain are not Iran too and like most of us know thats just absurd.

As if all the other evidence is not enough, this should open the eyes of the US to how influential Iran is in Iraq!

Iran has to do this, in order to ensure that the holy city of Qom remains the center of Shiism, and attracts all those convention dollars.
