Fatwas have nothing to do with Quran--silly stuff, but not really! These Fatwas act as cement for the bricks and mortars of an oppressive religious power structure. The more active and confident these women become, the less willing they would be to conform. A real slippery slope for the Mullahs.

As usual these so called Fatwas have nothing to do with the teachings of Quran. There is also not a single verse of Quran "authorizing" anyone even the Prophet to issue any "Fatwa." Too much of "Fat" will eventually cause all these Moolas heart attack", stroke, or sudden death

This could be just a ploy though, to make the government look good amongst women, by not giving into the retarded comments of these three idiots. It's like the government tells these guys to say dumb things, then they trump them to make themselves look good.

The government is not required to accept religious verdicts from these senior clerics, but it will have indirect impact. It will be more difficult for these women athletes to travel and they might do so less frequently because of all the extremist hoopla.
