Bahareh Hedayat: Prisoner of the Day

Democracy student activist serving a 9.5 year prison sentence

NobelWomensInitiative.org: Bahareh is a 31-year-old Iranian women’s and student rights activist. She is currently serving a nine and a half year prison sentence for speaking out against the violations of the rights of students following the 2009 presidential elections in Iran. Bahareh is part of the generation of Iranians born after the Revolution of 1979—who now constitute the majority of the population. Like many in her generation, she came of age at a time when there was a promise of reform, with a high value on personal freedoms and rights. After being admitted to the University of Tehran in 2001, Bahareh became active in the student union to improve the plight of the students and to advocate for political change during the ‘reform’ movement surfacing across the country >>>

you are welcome, Yolanda.  That video made me a big fan of her.    As you said, her bravery and confidence pours out of her sharp critical speech.

This great series should continue......

Until every single political prisoner of the fascist islamist regime is released, all  known and secret prisons of the bassij/islamist guards are either destroyed or converted into museums of shame for Islamist fascism, and every single criminal directly or indirectly responsible for jailing, torturing and murdering these best and brightest of Iranians is brought to justice.

9.5 years for speaking her mind

That's a no no in Islam

What is Ashora about then, what Imam Hossian(Ass)has to say about this?

My thought with her and her family.

Thank you, MM, for posting the video of Bahareh's speech! It is an awesome speech. This lady is very eloquent, composed, outspoken, and confident! She looks like a leader. She is a lioness!

Bahareh's hubby and Nasrin Sodoudeh's hubby are great also! They support their wives' great cause/dangerous work and have made a lot of sacrifices themselves! They should be "Iranian husbands of the Day"!

Bahareh is fearless

This (//www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtUvxtH00Lc) is what Bahareh said about the IRI tyrants, while in Iran, that got her into trouble.  She should be the poster-child of bravery for all democratic Iranian organizations.

Deserve all of our support and kudos to IC for keeping this message on the forefront.

My hat off to this lady and all those who are paying a hefty price for speaking up against the crimes , injustice and lack of freedom in Iran.

'Hambastegi' is the main key to victory

Thank you, IC, for pulling for the political prisoners in Iran! I just informed Bahare's husband on Facebook that IC featured his wife as "Iranian of the Day" and "Prisoner of the Day". I hope he can pass the message to Bahare when he visits his wife in jail. Bahare's hubby is an insurance adjuster living in Tehran.

Bahare is another brave soul in IRI's jail!
