Air show accident in southern Tehran

"The video was shot from a leading Boeing 707 tanker boom operator's vantage point. You can see the plane going down in flames in the background. It is believed that it collided with an F-5E escort plane on their way to Iran-Iraq War anniversary fly-by in southern Tehran. All crew were killed. September 2009:"

For some time (upt till 2008) you could see "Adnan" (or a sister plane since I believe they only had 2 IL-76 with radar dish) at a corner of Shiraz airport, from google map !

IL-76MD AWACS named "Adnan" in Iraq, and "Simorgh" in Iran.  It escaped to Iran in 1991 from Operation Desert Storm.

Indeed the aviation safety record in Iran has been dismal, and it goes way beyond the lack of spare parts or sanctions (this plane was Russian and not subject to any sanctions), it is just pure poor management and training and procedures, and low standard all around.  This plane was just supposed to do a fly by in a parade, what would happen if there actually was a need for it to do any operation in a war situation.  As you said, we never hear afterwards what the official cause of any of these crashes were.

My heart goes out to the familieis of the crew and every other Iranian victim of countryless mullahs incompetence.

IL-76MD or B707 ?

So which one was it ? B707 or IL-76 ?

Makes you wonder if they ever investigate these accidents. They've had so many, they must be overlooking some basic procedures.

Otherwise if they were part of the Pasdar Airforce (IRGC arirforce), then we all know they were terrorists and based on the doctrine of the terrorists they are cavorting with 70 virgins, so there is no need to bid them RIP, as they are I am sure in a better place according to the Islamists.
