Calls for supervision over Khamenei; blasts Guards' soaring power

middle-east-online.com: Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi has hit out at the growing political and financial might of the elite Revolutionary Guards, opposition website Kaleme.com reported on Sunday. Karroubi was quoted as saying in a letter to ex-president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani that late revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini "prevented (the Guards) from entering into politics and the economy." But he warned that the decision by the authorities to allow the Guards to enter into both of these spheres was "very dangerous for itself and threatens the nation." >>>

PArviz, u use to mix your ghormeh sabzi with mast & torshi

by Mardom Mazloom on

Saying that IRI has to be removed; that Iranians have been raped killed by this regime (as I say it too); ... is ONE thing

And recognizing that Karoubi is courageous and labeling people as you wish is ANOTHER.

Parviz, You said the Facts Thank you!

by Maryam Hojjat on

What you commented was indeed true. Karobi & Mosavi both are thugs of IRI and now they are making noise because they were not elected to continue their shares!

Do not forget!

by choghok on

that while he was the speaker of the house he oversee to that Khamenei overran the parliament by not allowing them to even discuss press freedom rights. He did not protest then, if he had done so we would not have come to this.

Amir19, thanks for the great comment on Mr Koroubi.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

He is truely a brave man. I was at first suspicious of him, but I respect him more everyday. He is leading the same path as marhoom montazeri. Just contrast the courage of this brave old man against the cowardism of this screaming pack of anti_Iranian cyber bassiji dogs hiding in the west. Dorood bar Karoubi

You can always "guarranty" that Islamists are illiterate

by AMIR1973 on

Besides being illiterate, they are killers, rapists, thieves, and have extremely low standards of hygiene (just look at AN and ask yourselves if he looks like someone who bathes regularly)? Cheers  :-)

Benyamin

The enforcement of law and order is more than just education!

by Benyamin on

Ever since the "Mashrootiat revolution" in Iran, Iranians are struggling to replace the dictatorship or the treditional way of governing with parliametary law and order but we have never been successful at it.

We need more than education, we need a culture of respect and fairness in order to impliment the law and order beyond its relationship to people or group or idolized personalities. We need to out grow ourselves and become something new. We need to re-invent ourselves and change from a Worm to Butterfly and stay that way.

We need to understand the "urgency" of extremes to be alive in our society. I remember reading this part about Larry Flynt(the publisher of pornographic magazines).

A repoter asked him why should I cover your story and he responded "I am the worst of you(society) and if my right is garaunteed then yours is certain.

Although what he does is not noble but what he said does make sence.

To sum up, as long as we idolize people in our society to the point that they find a place that is bigger than the law and people who created them, we can never become an advanced and civilized cuture.

Khobregan is another failed example.

"time for plundering Iran is over"

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

Oh, didnt realise the Islamist regime was overthrown!

As for Mr. Karoubi, he is the real proof that not all the mullahs should be summarily executed after the collapse of the fascists islamist regime.

Ehsan karimi

An opposition backed by

by Ehsan karimi on

An opposition backed by domestic and foreign criminals will never succeed.  Musavi and karoubi would have done much better on their own. They had better chance to bring freedom and democracy working with Ahmadinejad than cooperating with others, But the position of presidency was their concern not the human rights. Had they been the last candidates left for presidency, they would have exposed each other. They and people were used by Rafi and co, big time.

PArviz

Courage?

by PArviz on

Don't forget that this guy and others like him were the ones pointing the gun at other people's temples for almost 30 years. Now he is treated as an outsider and he does not like it.

Iran is ruled by thugs like him from day one of the revolution. Nothing new has happened in the past year or two. The regime has always jailed, tortured, raped, maimed and killed it's opponents in their thousands when likes of Karrubi and mousavi were top dogs in this regime and giving orders and running the show.

He is writing a letter to Rafsanjani expecting what? A miracle? Rafsanjani's main concern is to preserve this regime preferably with him in the driving seat but if that is not possible and Khamenei insist on driving this doomed cart then so be it. Rafsanjani knows very well what happens to him and others like him once this regime falls.

Since last year's elections some of these killings and brutalities came to the open and were caught on camera, some people were horrified by it and rightly so but most of these people were the ones who had intentionally closed their eyes to the crimes of this brutal regime in the past. In fact people like Karrubi were the ones who did their best to keep this regime in place. You do not become the speaker of the so called "parliament" without being ideologically one of the IRI thugs and murderers.

Having said all of the above, it is nice that some one who is in the know is spilling the beans, this may be a wake up call to all of those who are pretending to be sleep and I hope he continues to do so until the day he appears in a court of law in a democratic Iran and answers for his crimes.

Down with the ENTIRE Islamic Republic!

Courage ain`t sitting behind a screen and cussing

Courage is to say what you think is right while guns are pointed at your temple.
