It is one thing if an individual, group or a nation is willing to rise and sacrifice their lives for freedom of expression (which I think it is wrong, because there is no need to give life, there are better ways) than another nation using that as pretext to slaughter another nation and rob their resources as US is doing.  US troops might be out less or more, but tens of thousands of black water security forces will stay there for ever to control the oil.

Anyhow: about Beck & Palin. Neat essay, one of the best Ive seen. I've shared it around.

Thought I'd share something in similar vein which I posted elsewhere in a comment and which went down quite well. It went something like this:

Now to turn serious, because it is serious and quite a few others have noticed it. How to begin and be brief?

Well no one could quite take Palin seriously as a potential next president, so it seemed OK to make light of it (can't say her) and all that went with it - but I didn't. Something wasn't right (enough). 

Then Beck emerged as if from nowhere (but with a huge base following as a radio shock-jock etc.) and as a much more viable presidential candidate - given what's known about the majority of Usans (America is the whole continent, the US does not own it all).

Then I saw Palin in a new light, which can be put,"Prepare ye the way of the Lord."

Beck is a clown - so was Hitler, but his style would be all wrong for Usans. At Beck's first appearance, in context, I thought, "This reminds me of the Hindenburg Rallies, but US style."

If this is so, then a guide to the immediate future would be Hitler's meteoric rise to total control of an already fascist state (the US bundle of government, corporations and the military-industrial complex).

To answer your question why is GW more popular than Obama in Iraq.

I will challenge you to prove that before I answer it. No I'll answer it before you go and find me some Heritage Foundation scat.

GW essentially fixed what reagan, and bush I screwed up years before. Ask Rumsfeld why he was so eager to shake saddam's hands (and kiss his feet?), and why the US provided the formulations, targeting, and equipment and know how and support for saddam's very real chemical (and other) arsenals.

To then expend the lives of us servicemen and women to correct a bad bet and strategic mistake, isn't brilliance, or statesmanship you nutcase. It's a CRIME!.

What reagan, the bushes, and rumsfeld have done is equivalent to giving an alcoholic rapist, sadist murderer, a gun, some jack daniels, a souped up camaro with a snow plow attached to the front and a mulching attachment to the rear, and telling him to go and have fun. Preferably near a school. Then when the inevitable happens and Saddam rapes, murders, kills a lot of kindergartners, you wait 20 years, and then go in and claim you liberated the Kindergarten.

That's what Reagan, BSI, BSII, and rumsfeld have done.

Look it up.

When you rape and murder and pillage an entire nation into a state of constant and total fear, who they appear to think is more popular Bush or Obama is questionable, suspect at best.

Don't think that the fear and intimidation of utter oppression and evil, has left the Iraqis sane. As is proven by the Stockholm syndrome, we may very well be dealing with an entire nation who have turned to instincts instilled by Saddam (under the approval of Reagean BI and BII and Rumsfeld), and are merely sympathizing with the power source taking them hostage most recently.

So since Obama has not harmed them, in a sick way that only a nation of skittish mentally unstable and DSS infected people can do, the Iraqis may be unexplainably drawn to the very power that hurt them.

Think of it like the battered housewife that still thinks she should love and stay with her abusive husband, and worse, thinks she deserved the black eye, because after all he was right, the dinner was too spicy.

NEVER think that after decades of inhumanity, oppression, and degradation, and systematic torture, rape and murder, that YOU can wipe it away, and think that all we need to do to get over it, is kill the bad guy, and then go bowling and have a beer and a BBQ. Iraqis still can't sleep at nights.
