Are we all experts!?

This is not the matter of guessing or feeling and putting whatever word in Sa'di's mouth. If you have time and energy to research for it be my guest and do it as it has and is done for many lines in old books but If not please ...

Yek digar and yek paykar is almost the same but the fight is about the end of the line.

Gowharand!

by Ari Siletz on

Peykarand doesn't come off the tongue/throat right. Two kaaf sounds close to each other (yeK peyKar) awkwardly bumps the fluid flow of the consonants. If Saadi originally wrote peykarand, he's probably grateful that someone had the sense to fix it for him. Of course Peykar makes more sense if we try to stick with the logic of the metaphor (human body), but as with any good poetry the logical sense is implied enough so that we don't need to spell it out if it interferes with the music of the verse. 10,000 Toman poetry fine to whoever objected to Gowharand.
