WASHINGTON - JUNE 22: Former Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi choked by emotion when mentioning Neda (a recent victim of the brutal repression by the IRI ) during an address at the National Press Club June 22, 2009 in Washington, DC. Pahlavi, commenting on recent developments in Iran, called for a secular, parliamentary, and democratic political system in Iran.

From Wikipedia, The Def. of Realpolitik...!
by Amazed and Wanderer (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 07:49 PM PDTDear Mr. Jahanshah Javid,
The comments your patrons have been making are purely of character assassination and false statements. For example, Anonymous77 (apparently, a political science Prof. at Harvard!?) just made a comment to the effect that Mr. Pahlavi should have looked up the meaning of the word Realpolitik in a political science dictionary. Apparently he/she disapproves of the context!?
Well, I just did search the Wiki (see below) and it is perfectly fine and in line with the context of the discussions Reza Pahlavi makes in the video clip!?
"...Realpolitik (German: real “realistic”, “practical” or “actual”; and Politik “politics”) refers to politics or diplomacy based primarily on practical considerations, rather than ideological notions. The term realpolitik is often used pejoratively to imply politics that are coercive, amoral, or Machiavellian. Realpolitik is a theory of politics that focuses on considerations of power, not ideals, morals, or principles...."
Dear Jahanshah, please, If I can make a suggestion that you require to see the school transcript of your contributors prior to submission and to acquire a device to detect nonsense in the content of the posts prior to posting. This would really enhance the quality and substance of discussions around here!
Also, maybe your patrons can enroll in the pre-Algebra courses in their local high school or community college. Apparently these folks have a hard time counting!?
Much Obliged Sir!
PS - In my line of work, we call those devices, Bullshitometer!
Out of touch & Why we cry?
by tehrooni on Tue Jun 23, 2009 06:51 PM PDTI remember last time he cried on camera , it was so fake that I couldnt evan make myself to watch him here do it again. We Iranians are very good at crying to get symphaty , see those akhonds constantly crying, see that 5 years old kid crying like crazy over fatimeh. We seen it all . Best way you can impress us is to be truly yourself and even avoid mentioning things that might follow some expection of cries.
I am sorry but this clip proved to me how out of touch he is with Iran and Iranians and how he mistaken them for a naive bunch.

by AnonymousXYZ (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 05:58 PM PDTRafsanji, the reformer! Khatami the UN Ayatollah!! Mousavi, the new gentle face of Muslim Brotherhood!!!
The fight is over power and money. One side is fat and scared of what the West is threatening in private. The other side is hungry and not scared at all. That's what this is all about.
Stop your comments on the Shah. Focus on the Future.
by Seen-e Sorkh (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 05:57 PM PDTI am so disturbed by some of the commentary on here. We have just witnessed the most cruel and gruesome retribution that could have been handed a nation for simply protesting an election. Nonetheless, these vile acts were by our own government!
In addition to the many (19 by IRI sources and over 150 by independent accounts) who have died, hundreds of other Iranians have been arrested and their fate is already clear. Torture, forced confessions, executions lie ahead for our fellow country men and women. And if they are not killed, their souls will be so damaged that I shudder to think about how they can continue with life after their ordeals at the hands of this brutal government.
And yet, there are people who are still loudly 'loghoz-e shah-o mikhoonan' as though they have no recollection of history. The man who saved Iran from being another Afghanistan.
Read this without getting your emotions riled up, but for what it’s worth from leadership books and experiential narratives: Most leaders that are tasked with making tremendous change at the speed of lightening, often end up burning bridges along the way. Have any of you ever been a manager or director of a company, division, branch, etc... and were you given the responsibility of making changes to save the organization? If so, you would know that in the process of doing so, you probably had to terminate some employees - sometimes individuals who had worked there for a long time. You have to make decisions that do not make you popular and yet they are the right thing to do. And once you have done a few right things, you have most likely upset enough people and their friends to become a feared leader or despised manager.
Shah had a huge task ahead of him and not to mention at a very young age. He did the best he could with the cards that were dealt his way. It is easy to offer criticism and insights when you are doing so in hindsight. But, be fair for God's sake. The man made some mistakes. Who doesn't? However, he also did a lot of good; in fact more-so than any other individual in the history of modern Iran. Stop being so 'namak nashnas' and for the love of God, quit dwelling on the past. What about the future? Yes, I know we are an ancient land and the birthplace of civilization, but who are we now? And what do we want to be? I can assure you, ripping apart the Shah and his family will not get us back to any form of greatness. If we as a nation truly want to re-emerge as a model country then we need to pick a less prickly path.
You guys are simply jealous!
by Nothing wrong with crying (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 05:50 PM PDTFirst of all, anybody who is a parent or has brothers and sisters seeing the near to real time video of the death of a young girl would cry!? As a father, I cried when I saw it on youtube. In fact, the whole world cried. And like any other parent, Reza Pahlavi cried. So, why making fun of him crying?
As for the his presentation style, articulateness, command of English/French/Farsi, knowledge of international and political affairs, organization of thought, and so on and so forth, he is one head and a shoulder above and an order of magnitude better than all of you barking seals, combined! I really wonder how many of you have ever stood in front an audience and given a presentation or a speech!? Don't tell me that you are all faculty of Harvard and MIT!
Obviously, many of you who have watched and heard his speeches have failed to listen to the repeated emphasis that he is NOT interested in being a king or a leader.
As for the value of his assets, I am not his accountant but I know that 30 Billion dollars is 3 with 10 zeros in front of it (e.g., $30,000,000,000.00). With that kind of a money he could have acquired GM + FORD + AIG and he could be the king of wall street!? Why in the world would he want to be the king of a group of people such as you?
Mr. Jahansha Javid, you have been doing a fine job in filtering out the profane language in the posts. Maybe you would want to start implementing a mechanics to filter out contentfree /fluff posts as well!? Only that way, you may be able to boost and increase your subscription rate/hit rate!? Thank you!
Thank you

Hey Brother can you spare couple of billion!
by Anony3 (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 04:54 PM PDTHey Brother can you spare couple of billion ( Of that 30 billion that your father stole). That would be much appreciated and can be used to build basic infrastructure such as Rail roads and bridges in Iran (hopefully in the near future), or used for University building and education. Better yet spend some of that money on environmental disasters that IR created such as deforestation, polluted rivers, air pollution in the major cities.
That would be a good test of who good of a private citizen you are going to be.
Cheers,
AS much as I hate

He has not done anything, i mean anything positive for the iranian nation, not even helping the iranians in the USA a tiny bit. he does not hold a job and is spending our nation's money that was given to his family by this dad.
i can't believe our youths are getting killed in the street of iran and some "Shah parast" or "pro-Pahlavi family" still have the guts to mention Reza Pahlavi's name. get a life all your Pahlavis and leave us alone.
it is because of the dictatorial regime of shah that we ended up with this islamic revolution. go figure

Oh PLEASE... It is so easy
by @ (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 04:01 PM PDTOh PLEASE... It is so easy to talk about democracy and human rights when you are not the one in power... If I remember correctly the same issues of human right and democracy were the reason your dad's dictatorial regime fell 30 years ago... I believe the best people for reforming Iran are the current reformists we have such as Khatami, Hajarian, Nabavi, Montazeri and others... these guys were in full front of the revolution... They were the main architects of the Islamic Republic... but then at the peak of their power and influence started to come out of the government because they truly started to see the mistakes that revolution had made... These people have been tested by power and have shown that not even having power can stop them from questioning their actions and beliefs... These are the true reformists and not the son of a thief who is still living off the money his family STOLE from Iran and Iranians 30 years ago... The only person that you need to cry for Aga Reza is yourself for having to have the shameful last name of Pahlavi...
My name is Reza :)
