Reza Pahlavi not mindful that bringing death and destruction to innocent civilians is the ultimate in terror

Neo-Con asset
by Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich

Once again the neo-cons have given Reza Pahlavi a platform, but it is not clear who the intended audience is. The feigned altruistic appeal in his speech bears an eerie resemblance to the rehearsed Iraqi appeals before that country was invaded. Those appeals cost over one million Iraqi lives. This is a well-written speech, disguised as it may be, to convince. Whether the speech was delivered to persuade the American public of the necessity of intervention and war or the purpose of it was the alienation of Iran’s Arab neighbors, much like his father had in favor of Israel, one can be certain that Norman Podhoretz has given it his blessings, if indeed he has not been the writer himself.

It must be recalled that the events of 9/11 and the tragedy that struck America transformed George W. Bush. On November 19, 1999, Bush the candidate delivered a speech at the Ronald Reagan library at Simi California saying: ….. “And let us have an American foreign policy that reflects American character; the Modesty of true strength, the humility of real greatness.” However, 9/11 prompted him to turn over the foreign policy of the country to the neo-cons who had been waiting in the wings for decades, and who had planned the assault on the Middle East for over a decade. They were ready with a response and in effect, they hijacked the American foreign policy.

On September 20, 2001, Mr. Bush’s assertions were that the United States would pursue global terrorist groups and any nation that harbors or supports terrorism. His National Security Agenda (2002 NSS) was quintessentially neoconservative calling for preemption. Underlying the Bush foreign policy is the assumption that the use of military force to overthrow non cooperative governments in troubled areas is the remedy for terrorism; a page from neo-con D. Perle’s book “An End to Evil”.

Pahlavi invites an attack on Iran by stating that “Iran's clerical regime's continued support for terrorism”.

For neo-cons it is easy to push their agenda and convince the general public that the policies being implemented are based on American values as so many of them have careers in the media or academia (they developed a close tie with Georgetown Center for Strategic Studies among others). One such promoter of American ‘values’ is Benador Associates. Benador Associates arranges their TV appearances and speaking engagements, and helps to place their articles in newspapers. Ms. Benador, the founder of Benador Associates, along with Senator Liberman is busy promoting Reza Pahlavi (Lieberman endorsed McCain who likes to sing Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran). It is worthwhile mentioning another very prominent Benador client and Reza Pahlavi’s colleague and promoter.

Michael Ledeen, the contributing editor of National Review Online has endorsed the "Total war strategy" - His idea is advanced through Benador Associates. “Total War Strategy” was first put forward by Adam G. Mersereau. Ledeen writes: “The method used to destroy Iran, as known in the neo-con circle, will be 'Total War'. A total war strategy does not have to include the intentional targeting of civilians, but the sparing of civilian lives cannot be its first priority ... The purpose of total war is to permanently force your will onto another people group.” See Guardian

Pahlavi calls the regime in Iran terrorists, aware that such definitions will draw the US military into a bloody battle for the preemption doctrine. He is not mindful of the fact that bringing death and destruction to innocent civilians is the ultimate in terror.

More importantly, language is the best tool for political and social dominance. Those who ‘own’ the language can use value-laden terminology to their great advantage and ‘define’ the other. Terrorism is the definition given by the neo-cons to those they wish to master. It is only relevant if one heeds it. The intellect is often sharper than the biting words. However, it would seem that Reza Pahlavi has felt the need to adapt to his inferior position and adapted to the prevailing definition of social order by trading status for security.

Reza Pahlavi must also know that Iran’s history is filled with a pattern of external powers collaborating and destroying the country’s advancement in its nascent stages at every turn, whether technological empowerment as in the case of the railway, or socio-political, such as democracy and the nationalization of oil, or the current self sufficiency in seeking nuclear technology.

He should recall that after the concessions granted by the Persian government to the (Russian) Discount and Loan Bank of Persia for the construction of the railway line Julfa-Tabriz (1913), the ‘allied’ forces in line with Winston Churchill’s advice, forced the man who had built it, his grandfather, Reza Shah Pahlavi, to abdicate and leave the country. Iran’s democracy and its oil nationalization movement of 1951 to 1953 under Mossadegh were brought to an end by the British with the help of the CIA-backed coup. His father owed his throne to the CIA, it is worthwhile mentioning. Today, it seems that Reza Pahlavi is asking the same favor from similar groups.

And his lack of understanding of nuclear power…

Pahlavi should know that at the Iraq war created a pro-natalist atmosphere. Families were even given incentives to have more children. In addition, the war caused immense damage to the infrastructure prompting the new government to rethink its position about starting up the nuclear power plants. Furthermore, according to Saad Rahim, an analyst at Washington consultancy PFC Energy claims that Iran needs to diversify its energy needs in addition to a change in its policies, otherwise, "Iran's net crude exports could fall to zero." But since Pahlavi’s concerns are to please the neocon bosses, and to convince the American people that Iran is a threat, the truth is being concealed.

On every continent nuclear and radiation techniques are put in the service of humankind. Recently, it was witnessed that due to a problem with a Canadian nuclear reactor that produces medical isotopes used to diagnose and treat cancer and cardiovascular disease, patients in Canada, U.S. and other countries had their tests and treatment postponed. Since Pahlavi is in the U.S., he is no doubt indifferent to the plight of the Iranians and their welfare.

Iranian nationalists have asked the world at large, America in particular to leave them alone. Pahlavi has no love for Iranians, much less an understanding of them. Even the Cuban-Americans who have held the foreign policy of this country towards Cuba hostage for decades, do not have the audacity to select a leader and have someone represent Cuba from exile. A self-appointed traitor who has surrendered his reins to the neo-cons does not speak for Iranians.

Hit Iran where it hurts

Democratic presidential hopeful takes a get-tough stance against tyrant of Tehran

By BARACK OBAMA

Americans need to come together to confront the challenge posed by Iran. Yet the Bush administration and an anonymous senator are blocking a bill with bipartisan support that would ratchet up the pressure on the Iranian regime. It's time for this obstructionism to stop.

The decision to wage a misguided war in Iraq has substantially strengthened Iran, which now poses the greatest strategic challenge to U.S. interests in the Middle East in a generation. Iran supports violent groups and sectarian politics in Iraq, fuels terror and extremism across the Middle East and continues to make progress on its nuclear program in defiance of the international community. Meanwhile, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has declared that Israel must be "wiped off the map."
In response, the Bush administration's policy has been tough talk with little action and even fewer results. While conventional Washington thinking says we can only talk to people who agree with us, I believe that strong countries and strong Presidents shouldn't be afraid to talk directly to our adversaries to tell them where America stands. The Bush-Cheney diplomacy of not talking to Iran has not worked. As President, I will use all elements of American power to pressure the Iranian regime, including the power of tough, smart and principled diplomacy.

For diplomacy to work, we need to dial up our political and economic pressure - not just our tough talk. Iran's troubling behavior depends in large part on access to billions of dollars in oil and gas revenue. That is why I introduced the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act last May, to build on a movement across the country to divest from companies that do significant business with Iran. This would send a clear message about where America stands, increasing Iran's isolation and hitting the Iranian regime where it hurts.

The bill works in three ways. First, it would educate investors and pressure foreign companies to reconsider doing business with Iran by requiring the U.S. government to publish - every six months - a list of companies that invest more than $20 million in Iran's energy sector. Second, it would give explicit congressional authorization to state and local governments to divest the assets of their pension funds and other funds under their control from any company on the list. Third, it would give private fund managers who divest protection from lawsuits, while urging the government's own 401(k) fund to create "terror-free" and "genocide-free" investment options for government employees.

This common-sense approach enjoys broad support. Sam Brownback, a Republican senator and presidential candidate, joined me in introducing this bill. A companion bill passed the House of Representatives 408 to 6. The only obstacle now is a single senator who placed an anonymous "hold" on the bill, blocking it from coming to a vote.

This is exactly the kind of unaccountable obstruction that needs to change in Washington. Instead of having a debate in the open, a Bush administration ally is blocking the bill through a secret Washington maneuver - a maneuver that would be banned if a sweeping bipartisan ethics reform bill that I led the fight to pass is signed into law.

Talking tough and keeping our troops in the middle of Iraq's civil war has only served to strengthen Iran's position. It's time to turn the page on a failed foreign policy. It's time for strong diplomacy backed by common-sense measures that pressure the Iranian regime.

Shameless lies never stop

How was it a defense after the first year when Iraq had agreed to a truce and the regime in Iran fought inside Iraqi borders. Have you bunch really no shame to lie so blatantly here? It was not seen officially as a war of Islam against the kufr by the Islamic regime in Iran? They didn`t want to continue it to capture al-quds, Jerusalem? They didn`t want to continue it until the end of fitna in the world? Shame on you to support a cause that demands of you such endless stream of lying. Is it Taqiyya you do with such glee? What is wrong? Not used to being taken up on your baseless lies like this before?

I tell you this again, the moment your islamic and arab brothers put down their arms and stop trying to destroy the state of Israel, there will be peace. Immediately. Who are preventing this? I suggest you take a look at the mirror.

Zion

Why is that?

by Zion on

How much do you know of the history of the region? There was no separate `palestinian` identity. There was talk of Arabs of Palestine. Trans-Jordan was the land alloted to the arabs of Palestine as the counterpart of the Jewish homeland. All the talk of a separate Palestinian identity can b traced to after 1967, when the pan-arabic movement proved to be a failure. It was devised to prevent the naturalization and assimilation of those arabs in already formed states of Jordan, Lebanon Syria and even Egypt, the same way Jews from those arab states had been naturalized in Israel. This was done precisely to use them both as excuse and as foot soldiers to keep the tension and to throw the Jews into the sea. The myth of Jews of Israel stealing the land of a distinct people called palestinian has been deliberately propagated to justify the continuation of the barbaric bloodshed waged against the Jewish people, not just in Israel but even in far off places like Argentina.
But have no worries, this has already gone down and they will eventually get a state of their own. What they will do with it you can already see in the Hamastan they have set up in Gaza.
This is part of history some of you simply never want to acknowledge.
So shame on you my friend. Shame on you.

Just more than a 100 years ago their country men had to live under Russian boots. All these years they cry crocodile tears for Palestinians, did they ever care for them?
It is anti-semitism pure and simple. This whole `palestinian` identity has been forged as an excuse to let it roam frely and unashamedly.

Fred, the funny thing is their leaders who speak the most about palestine are the ones most responsible of muslim killings, during the war with Iraq, in Afghanistan and Lebanon, in Iraq today. Unfortunately they are too dumb to see the irony.

Palestinian Authorities Investigates Iran Embassy
PA investigates Iran 'embassy'
New headquarters promotes apocalyptic world battle of 'good' vs. 'evil'

By Aaron Klein© 2008 WorldNetDaily.com
A WorldNetDaily exclusive story revealing Iran has opened an "ideological embassy" in the Palestinian territories to espouse Shia Muslim beliefs ? including Islam's waging of a final, apocalyptic battle against "evil" ? has prompted an investigation by the Palestinian Authority's security services, according to Palestinian officials.
Iran's new Shia Council in Palestine was also established to help spread Iranian theocracy and rule throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Muhamad Gawanmeh, director of the new headquarters, said in an interview.

We want the Palestinian people to be exposed to the Iranian heritage and Shia principles. [Our goal is] to reinforce the relations between the Islamic republic of Iran and the Palestinian people. We are part of the Iranian Islamic project in the Middle East," Gawanmeh said.
Gawanmeh is a member of the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad terror group and has spent several years in Israeli prisons. He opened the council's headquarters in Ramallah, and said there are plans to expand Iranian offices to several other major Palestinian cities in the West Bank and Gaza with official sanctioning from Tehran.
Palestinian sources said Gawanmeh's quotes are being used in an official investigation into his new Ramallah office by the Fatah-governed Palestinian General Intelligence Agency.
'Council is Iran's gate to Palestinian people'
Iran's new Shia Council, which recently also opened an office in Egypt, claims to already have a membership of several thousand Palestinians.
Gawanmeh said the Council will not be involved in "military operations," but will promote Iranian theocracy to the local population and serve as a conduit for Tehran's interests in the area.
"We want the council to be a gate for the Palestinian people to receive the help of Iran and the Shiate world. We already have large numbers of members and supporters," Gawanmeh said.
He said the council seeks to espouse Shia Muslim ideology in the Sunni-dominated Palestinian territories, including the belief in the return of the Twelfth Imam to lead an apocalyptic world battle against "evil."
Apocalyptic world battle against 'evil'
Shia Muslims believe Muhammad's family ? the 12 Imams ? were the best sources of knowledge about the Quran and Islam and were the most trusted carriers and protectors of Islamic tradition. They believe in a dynasty of Islamic authorities and promote a hereditary class of spiritual leaders they believe have divine powers.
Sunni Islam in part follows the teachings of Islamic caliphs who proclaimed leadership after Muhammad's passing but were not blood relatives of the prophet. The caliphs interpreted important parts of Muhammad's hadith ? or tradition ? that Shias reject.
Sunni Muslims make up about 85 percent of Muslims all over the world. The largest sect of the Shias, called The Twelvers, believe there were 12 imams after Muhammad and that the last one, Imam Mahdi, still lives, but he cannot be seen until Allah determines it is time to prepare the faithful for Judgment Day.
The Twelvers count Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad among their faithful. They believe Imam Mahdi will return to lead the forces of righteousness against the forces of evil in a final, apocalyptic world battle.
Some Mideast analysts fear Ahmadinejad may be pursuing nuclear weapons in part to precipitate the final, Mahdi-led battle. In a speech in Tehran in November, Ahmadinejad reportedly said his main mission is to "pave the path for the glorious reappearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance." His Cabinet has reportedly given $17 million to the Jamkaran mosque, site of a well at which Shia Muslims believe Mahdi disappeared over a thousand years ago.
Official: Iran's new role in Palestinian areas 'dangerous'
The council's Gawanmeh went on to credit Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal's recent visit to Tehran with strengthening official Palestinian ties to the Iranian leadership and emboldening Iran to sanction the opening of its new Palestinian office.
"Now that Hamas was adopted by Iran, who announced a huge financial support to Hamas and to the Palestinian people, and now that Hezbollah is facing a Zionist-American conspiracy to disarm, we decided that this is the most suitable moment to declare the foundation of our council in Palestine and to start acting publicly," Gawanmeh said.
Israel says Iran uses the Lebanese-based Hezbollah militia as a conduit to channel funds to Palestinian terror groups, including Islamic Jihad, which took responsibility for every suicide bombing since several Palestinian groups agreed to a truce with Israel last year.
Iran last week pledged financial support to Hamas to replace an expected halt of European and U.S. aid to the new Palestinian government.
Media reports said Iran would give as much as $250 million to the PA, but Hamas officials said no actual amount had been discussed.
Hamas chief Meshaal, in Tehran 11 days ago for a round of talks with Iranian officials, said Iran would have an increased role with the PA.
A senior Palestinian security official told WND: "Iran is playing a very negative role in the PA. Aside from its meetings with Hamas leaders and its financial support, we are worried the new office in Ramallah is Iran's attempt to infiltrate the PA territories through religious organizations that will adopt a very radical Shia Islam."

To all Islamo-fascists on this thread including Kamran, Iranian,

by Bijanam (not verified) on

Why don’t you use a little bit of common sense (if you have any) before posting the kind of nonsense you are posting. Just for a second forget about the garbage you’ve been reading and think about survival. What would your instinct and the books you’ve been reading tell you to do when you are faced with a real threat of annihilation.

I don’t know where you are in your humanity scale, but I’ll do anything in my power to prevent extinction. This is pure and simple, human nature. You can talk all you want about morality and humanity, but, if you threaten me with destruction, it’s open field. When it comes to my survival, I don’t go read books to find definition of morality.

There is no explaining where you’re coming from. You are the Middle-
eastern KKK members, pure and simple. This talk about oppressed versus oppressor is nonsense. You have to accept state of Israel as a fact and reality. Any argument that questions existence of the Jewish state, will question existence of planet earth as we know it.

If you think someone is about to destroy you, you’ll put him in jail (or shoot him). It’ll be too late to react after he has destroyed you… The best you can do is to stop it from happening. Therefore, quit criticizing what the (Zionist) state of Israel is doing.

If they submit that easily to capture of two soldiers (and death of two more), they are submitting to their destruction. It is pure bullshit to say they did not have the right to demolish and destroy anything and anybody that threatened their existence.
In your books they may call it Zionism, apartheid, ….but, in reality it is existence.

You extremist Islamists better get used to it, the Jewish state of Israel with its democratic government is here to stay.

All you bleeding heart Palestinians, better advise your leaders to compromise and settle for peace (one way or another) or you will be history in a different planet….

If you like to debate over pinpoint accuracy in historical perspectives I refer you to Zion who undoubtedly is the authority in knowledge of the subject. I only speak of common sense with limited historical perspective.

All I think about is the change in boundaries of nations over times. We can think about Persian Empire, where it was then, and where it is now. Those who live in the Arab states in the Middle East are no longer considered occupier of Persian territories. I know it is extremely simple minded but it is a reasonable analogue.

I am only asking the Islamofascists (like Q, Kamran, Daryush, Iranian, etc..) to put themselves in a situation of being destroyed and tell me how would they react? I bet it’s going to be they will defend themselves at any price. Morality and humanity will have no meaning to these guys.

By-the-way, I speak from experience. I know what Islamic hatred and prejudice can do. I have seen it with my own eyes.

Zion is right, once again: "Jews have superior values"

by AnonymousAntiZionist (not verified) on

This needs repeating.

Israel warned people before dropping bombs in lebanon (total BULLSHIT), and Israeli pilots have a conscience as opposed to "arab brothers" that are just like vicious animals. Israel doesn't want to kill anyone. It only "defends" itself by "attacking" other people's land and "keeping" it civlized for them. Israel is so good that it is willing to sustain damages and it does not fire back.

But why is it that the number of INNOCENT CIVILIANS (not terrorists, not army members) killed are five to eight times higher for arabs than Israelis? Why is it the number of LITTLE CHILDREN killed 10 or 20 times higher for Palestinians and Lebanese compared to Israelis?

It is Arabs' own fault. Israel doesn't "want" to kill children, but it always does just by accident. These children are not the victim, it's THEIR OWN FAULT that they live where the bombs are falling and I guess don't answer the phone when kind-hearted Israelis try to warn them to escape. That's how dumb they are. Arabs die in greater numbers, living in fear, NO ARMY, NO SECURITY, and NO PROTECTION. But they are the aggressors!

ISRAEL IS ALWAYS THE VICTIM. IT CAN NEVER DO WRONG, ONLY "DEFEND" HUMANITY AGAINST LESS-THAN-HUMAN ARABS!!!

Got it!

PS. Anyone who peacefully demonstrates (like Corrie) deserves to have an "accident" like hers. Why else would Zion put up that picture?

Zion

Still not making sense

What Christopher Hitchens `believes` has nothing to do with what he is explaining here. He is merely explaining how the Koran was compiled according to islamic sources. Also that was the intentions of Islam were so noble as you say, are you basically saying that the omnipotent and omniscient Allah`s last and final religion was a complete failure? Are you saying it`s time for a new religion?
Israel does not target civilians period. If some civilians unfortunately caught in the fire, that is no different than Iraqi civilians dying under Iranian bombs and rockets falling on their cities or German civilians dying under allied air raids in WWII. Actually there is because Israel does everything in her power to limit and prevent this on a scale neither the allies nor obviously the Iranians were ever willing to do. The palestinians and groups like Hizballah deliberately target civilians to kill as many as possible as a military strategy. If you were not blinded by your dogmas you would have seen the essential difference.
Israel is supported by the US, because she is a worthy US ally. The security of Israel is the key to the security of the world today because she stands at the forefront of the free world, and her enemies are the most dangerous forces that threaten the entire free world, she is an Island of free men in a sea of racist and religious madness, in the same way that West Berlin was during the cold war, and as such was enjoyed the constant attention and support of the US and the free world. Unfortunately the US is not doing all it should regarding Israel, and I won`t even mention the European double games, but the principle is correct.
I repeat my question for you two. You are not answering my point and you are not making sense. The world as it is couldn`t care less of what atrocities take place around the world. Tell me, what horrible back lash did the russians face when they massacred the Chechens? What is going on in Somalia right now? What are the horrible consequences the IRI is getting for all the barbaric executions and tortures it systematically commits since 79? Or what happened to Jordan who massacred the same Palestinians you so care about? If according to you Israel has such devious leverage in the world, why should she care about the world opinion and not use her power? I tell you what, because Israel is bound by morality and humanity, much more than your `world opinion`. Values that were always inherent in the identity of Jews. That is what is really eating you out.

And finally here is a picture of our Lady, the Saint Rachel Corrie (who died inadvertently in an ACCIDENT):

First:

I disagree with you, the Sunnis are by far more bias than Shiites regarding other sects. Have you ever been to any of the Sunni Arab countries? I have and what you will find is total discrimination and unacceptance – in fact you are considered an un-believer “kafar” – no wonder Shiites have been marginalized in most Arab countries.

Second:

What is being practiced today is not the true Islam as revealed to the Prophet and reflected in the Quran..

The only source for Islamic teaching is the Quran and to deviate from this and use other sources, (i.e. the Hadiths), is corruption of Islam and is considered a sin, in the Quran.

As you well know, during the lifetime of the Prophet and the Four Caliphs there was no religious source other than the Quran. Men were not members of any particular sect. They practiced what the Quran prescribed to them and were free in points when there was no prescription in the Quran, according to their own appreciation, customs and conventions. No opinions were told in the name of such schools as Sunni, Hanafi, Shafi, Shii, Alawi or Jafari.

Furthermore, one of the main reasons of the revelations to the Prophet was to do away with idols, divinities, priests, clergy and sanctified individuals who interceded between God and man. We cannot but witness the working of intercessors like sheikhs, sectarian imams, traditionalists and canonical scholars who have created a position for themselves as a source for educating man on Islamic teachings, much of which they fabricated by picking and choosing various Hadiths that serve their interest.

When Islam became politicized (during the Abbasid and Omayyad Dynasties), those who wielded political power made use of religion to give shape to public opinion according to their interests. Thus they manipulated the people with a view to molding them to suit their own ends by making additions and omissions in religious practice.

Interpolations made under pressure were not confined to the Omayyad’s and the Abbasids. These interpolations of fabricated hadiths were later transformed into fatwas and canonical jurisprudence under the pressure of caliphs and governors. Under the Ottomans, the caliphate was to pass from father to son, and fratricide for the welfare of the State came to be admitted within the framework of these fatwas and canonical jurisprudence. This attitude is an indication of the freedom that the powers in charge enjoyed in regard of the revealed religion. All these took place at the request of the Sheikhulislam, considered an imposing personality clothed with authority and paid by the government.

Most of everything that we are seeing today, Muslims killing one another, suicide bombings, killing of innocent people, are all sins under Islam. You are not going to find one verse in the Quran which allows for these acts. Nor are you going to find most of what is practiced as Shari’ a in the Quran.

So if any of these Muslim countries were truly practicing Islam, we would not have the problems that we are witnessing today.
