Fakhreddin Azimi is Professor of History at the University of Connecticut. He studied at the universities of Tehran, London, and Oxford and specializes in the history, politics and culture of modern Iran. He is the author of the following books: -- The Quest for Democracy in Iran: a Century of Struggle against Authoritarian Rule (Harvard University Press, 2008, paperback 2010) Winner, Mossadegh Prize, Mossadegh Foundation; winner, Saidi-Sirjani Award, International Society for Iranian Studies; finalist, Connecticut Book Award, Non-Fiction Category, Connecticut Center for the Book. -- Iran: The Crisis of Democracy, 1941-53 (New York & London, 1989; revised edition 2009); -- Hakemiyat-e melli va doshmanan-e an (National Sovereignty and its Enemies: Probing the Record of Mosaddeq's Opponents)(Tehran 2004, 2010); and --Ta'ammoli dar negaresh-e siasi-ye Mosaddeq (Reflections on Mosaddeq's Political Thinking) (Tehran: Khojasteh Press, forthcoming).
