Threats of violence

We on the IC are used to verbal arguments. Basiji or Zionist labels are tossed around like rice in a wedding ! But for most part these are verbal. People do not threaten each other with bodily harm. Up to now only one person on IC threatened me with physical harm. I brought it up to the admin when it happened. The admin replied that the person is not serious and I dropped the issue.

Please bring back SamSam to IC

Dear Admin; readers and members of IC.

SamSam is a truly knowledge and patriotic Iranian. I found out that he was banned again. It pains me to see a person like him gone. You may know banning is not a thing I like. But SamSam goes beyond a regular poster. He is a real assert to any site. His wisdom, wit, and knowledge is a giant plus to any discussion. And banning him is a huge blow. I know others who agree with me and have told me so. I will let them speak for themselves.

Regime change; democracy and high horse

People have been debating what is good for and what is going on in Iran. Is there intervention; is it desirable and what is good. Do we want democracy? Where does Reza Pahalavi fit in.

I welcome you ALL to post here and share your thoughts in a polite and civil manner.

My own thoughts are intervention is happening right now.

Therefore it is not a question of if but how. Do we get to impact it and if so how.

To me these are the priorities:

* A strong and intact Iran.

* A secular state.

Disclaimer: this is satire with a grain of truth.

Iran Space Program confirms attempt to send live monkey into orbit failed, Much to the dismay of the Iranian population the most recent and ingenious attempt to rid Iran of Ahmadinejad met with failure. Reports say that Ahmadinejad was safely recovered from the capsule. He was flown back to Tehran for observation and is reported to be in good condition.

I am posting this blog in direct response to my posts on this topic being flagged. The blog about the poster is out there and I will not repeat it. My point is the reaction of some people to it. A number of people have openly endorsed it. When I expose them someone flags my posts. I won't bother to mention the names; just go read this blog:

I promised to stop commenting on JJ's blog. However the arguments persist. I therefore am opening this discussion. You all know my opinion so I will shut up and listen. Please make your feelings known. I may also add my input but will try to keep it short as to leave room for others and for a change hear from the silent majority.

One
thing based on the new policy I request Esfand not post on this blog.
Since he is a proponent of blog "ownership" this is MY blog and I want
to hear from others. Not to have it be spammed by his opiion.

Iranian Honesty

I have had recent dealings with Iranians both in Iran and USA. In all instances they were 100% honest. I won't go into too much detail because I don't want to give away my identity. Let us just say they involved: stocks; books; carpets; hand craft; movies; kitchen ware; backgammon sets. Just to mention a few. In all instances I was treated with respect and never cheated. Not once. In 2/3 of the instances I was given the items based on trust. Because they knew me {only a bit}. The other 1/3 of the time I paid first and got my thing later.

Bullying of bloggers

Bullying is a tactic used to silence dissent. It has been used by both IRI and its supposed opponents. The basic idea is that you throw unsubstantiated attack aka mud. Hoping it will stick or at least raise doubts about the integrity of the other person. Then the other person may be intimidated into silence or submission.

It is getting more common on IC. Some try to pass it off as jokes. Others seem very serious about it. I will give an example of it:

http://iranian.com/main/2011/sep/freed-hikers-...

Iranian Arabs

I like to use this blog to recognize the contribution of some Iranian
Arabs. As JJ said they are as much Iranian as any other Iranian.

There is a nice list on Wiki about famous Iranian Arabs.

On Racism

Recently many people had been calling one another racist. I want to
explore this issue. Here are some questions with my own interpretations. I like to get your input and feelings. What do you think and please lets keep the insults out.

What is racism?

[VPK] Racism is putting one race above another race. It does not matter what race you put above
others.

Persepolis Tablets

Persepolis tablets have been caught in the middle of a fight. A gang of opportunists want to steal them to "pay" for supposed damages by IR. It is like confiscating the Statue of Liberty to pay for downing the Iranian Jet. However a recent court decsision has given some relief.

Like it or not NIAC has been active in saving them. I don't want to turn this into a NIAC bashing blog.

I have read arguments on both side of this. A number of people say IRI is Iran. Then have used that to blame Iranian people for actions of IRI. In my opinion a government is never the same as the people. This is specially true when there is no democracy. Or when there is a nominal machinery for democracy but it is broken. The only time a government may really reflect WILL OF "the people" is in a direct democracy likte Swiss have.

The US Navy has decided to rename the Persian Gulf. Instead of begging them to right this wrong we should go on the offensive. Remind the world that this is the same Navy which murdered 290 civilians mostly Iranians but also Arab; Indian; Yugoslav and Italians. They never apologized. In fact Ray-Gun gave the crew and their Captain Will Rogers III a medal. So next time USA is shedding crocodile tears over some incident just remind them of their idea of Justice.
