Dear friends: For the past six months Stanford University has been hosting Mr. Mohsen Namjoo as a Visiting Fellow. Now there is an attempt to extend his stay. He is working on a manuscript on recent transitions in Iranian music. He is working in the Music Department with Professor Jindong Cai, Gretchen B. Kimball Director of Orchestral Studies and Associate Professor (Performance) of Music and Dr Milani. In order to extend his stay, Dr Milani has applied for and received a $25 thousand grant from the Flora Family Foundation, conditional on our ability to raise an equal sum.

The piece depicts a day of life in Tehran in three parts: "Dawn," "Noon," and "Sunset." Tehran/ One Day by Sahba Aminiknia depicts a day of life in Tehran. Starting with the morning, the piece gradually increases in tension to reach its height at noon, a reflection of the recent political unrest the city has experienced, sunset following as a comforting time with family, finally a lullaby brings warmth and calmness to the city with the arrival of the night until a new day starts again
