Interesting debate between an Iranian-American theologian and American neuroscientist/philosopher on faith, science, reason, secularism and fundamentalism...definitely worth a watch...

Another wannabe expert

by Free Thinker (not verified) on

Reza Aslan is a classic example of a detached and self-indulgent new and young(ish) generation of "experts" or better to say, salesmen who thanks to the chaotic and messy American intellectual market have found an opportunity to sell their mediocre quality goods in a Sunday market. Other examples are Vali Nasr, Trita Parsi, Ray Takkieh and more. The problem with all these "experts" is that their message is coming from their own self-indulged interpretation of the field that they have chosen to "research." Their messages are initially viewed with curiosity but soon their hollowness begin to sound load and clear as it has already in the case of Aslan and Nasr. Parsi and Takkieh are the next dominos to fall.
