I don't think many people appreciate the things reza khan did for his country. iran was on the verge of disintegration when he took power. the threat of the balkanization of iran had never been higher. iran lacked a strong central goverment, and local strongmen called the shots in many part of iran.

may you rest in peace reza khan !! if it weren't for you, we would be called 'farsestani', rather than iranian !!

we have a tendency to blame others for iran's ills... for example we say "zire daste engelishast"... but in reality we are the cause of our own ills, "as mast ke bar mast"... afterall, iran has plenty of resources and brain power, but until our bad habits change, we are essentially stuck right where we are...

After going through this initial shock, our nation and people started to regroup, and reassert themselves. one of these iranians was ferdowsi, who around 1000 years ago, after 30 years, gave the iranian people the shahanameh, which helped to give a rebirth to the iranian identity. he is a giant among iranians, along the likes of cyrus, darius, reza khan, and mosaddegh. may his soul always rest in peace.
