Iranians are completely intrigued and consumed by the conspiracy theories. Our usual conversation about the politics and the world affairs generally ends up in saying, “it is all a British or American plot!”

A few nights ago, on Andisheh TV, there was a great discussion about the conspiracy theory in the Iranian psyche by Dr. Farhang Holakouee, one of the foremost authorities in the subject of the Iranian culture, psychology and sociology. In my opinion, at this point, he is the foremost Iranian scholar, intellectual and social icon.

Iran’s national football team will face Uzbekistan at Azadi Stadium tomorrow, Wednesday Nov. 14th. This is an extremely important match for Iran in order to qualify for 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Iran currently sits at the top of Group A with 7 points along with S. Korea. Uzbekistan is in the third place with 5 points. Qatar and Lebanon are the other two teams in the group with 4 points each.

I recently heard a brief talk by Dr. Holakouei about the nature of the rage of the Iranians against the late Shah as compared to the rage against the Regime today. Dr. Holakouei called the ’79 revolution the result of the rage of a son against his father while he called the current situation in Iran, the rage of a daughter against her father. This is quite a fascinating way of looking at both our actions then and now which begs the question:

Can a woman-led Regime change movement against the Islamic Republic succeed without wide-spread violence?

Iran’s Former Football Coach to Join Basij and Fight the US!

Iran’s former football coach, the Croatian Miroslav Blažević declared his readiness to join Basij and fight the US forces. Blažević currently coaches Iran’s club Mes Kerman.

When pressed for his future role as a warrior, he said that he does not want to coach the Basij, but rather wants to be on the field himself! There is only one condition though, Blažević insisted on wearing the jersey no. 10. That jersey is currently being worn by the Basij head Firoozabadi.
