After a host of superhero movies (Spiderman, Superman, Batman) now we have a new (not exactly) one, offering some more super heroic deeds. These movies never fail to entertain more so when the audience is ready to lap up anything that is produced in the name of HERO. So we have a sequel to Iron Man (2008) that is (of course) called Iron Man 2 based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

Clash Of The Titans (COTT, 2010) is the supposed fantasy Greek mythological story of god Zeus, his illegitimate son Parseus (demi-god) and the latter’s fight with his uncle Hades (ruler of Underworld). It is a fight between good and evil. The result is of course a foregone conclusion. The gods must (certainly) be crazy when they decided to make this movie.

Plagiarism cuts both ways. And it exists in Hollywood too. Sounds strange but it is the classic case of big fish swallowing small fish. And nobody questions the ethics (or lack of it). The strategy is simple. Plagiarise till you become famous. And when plagiarism is then uncovered, feign ignorance/plead innocence or settle the matter out-of-court. After all, mega bucks have been made and a portion of it can be paid to settle the claims of original writer. Hollywood believes in, “You are innocent till you are caught” (and then you pay and go scot-free).

The most awaited movie after Avatar (2009) opened to a tremendous response. Director Tim Burton has made an extension to Lewis Carroll’s (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) novels Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland (1865) and Through The Looking-Glass (1871). It combines live action with animation and was released in 3D, IMAX 3D and regular theatres. Most of you have read the novels so the story is already familiar to you except Burton has taken literary liberty that lends the movie a charm of its own. It presents the 21st Century Alice.

The movie couldn’t have arrived at a better time. The world is changing at a faster pace and is becoming a global village. The differences between the Whites as a race and the Natives are diminishing fast. So much so that it results in a great movie Avatar. It is a slap in the face of materialism and bonding with the nature.

Yeah, Steven Spielberg (62) is the reigning king of plagiarism in Hollywood along with Columbia Pictures. He has made it into an art that is closely followed by many. Rightly he is the trend setter in plagiarism. It is said Spielberg is one of the most notorious practitioners of the fine art of taking credit where credit is not due.

Dorothy Parker said, "The only 'ism' Hollywood believes in is plagiarism." To take this argument further it is said, you haven't arrived in Hollywood until you've been sued for plagiarism.
