The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia

The other day I came across this movie/documentary entitled The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia (2009). The date says 2009 but the documentary was made in 1991 and I don't know the explanation for the 18 years time span. In any event I give this a 2.5 stars and if you have good command of English language deciphering the accents, you may enjoy this movie.

As I was watching this film I noticed the name Vida Ghahremani as an actress in this movie. The named sounded familiar and I got interested for the rest of the movie. I then remembered her in a photo essay by Nazy Kaviani recently. She is the one in left in this picture.

After a recent annual checkup I was once again borderline on the health charts for things such as Cholestrol, blood pressure, sugar and some other stuff like white and red blood cells which I don't pay attention to much because I don't know what the heck they are! Not that I know more about Cholestrol but at least it is more famous. One of these years I'm going to break the barriers and be screwed!

Following JJJ's trip to Auschwitz I thought to write a movie review about Katyn, a movie about the Katyn massacre in 1940. The movie Katyn is a great movie that was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Ever thought or had a dream of waiting for your turn to be executed? Well this movie takes you to that edge.

Talking smack is a daily exercise for Islamic Republic politicians and basically all Government functions. They just can't talk straight and think since their only audience is the poor Iranian public whom they can abuse left and right, they are not accountable to anything and anyone. Sometimes they forget how fast they're smack talking and end up shooting themselves once again in the foot!

AIPAC and IRI are BFF!

For the past 30 years both AIPAC and IRI have been talking smack at every chance they get. In Iran when you open the news it's like Fox News on steroid! Imagine Pat Robertson or some other religious zealot get in power and talk as much smack as possible. In Israel it is the same thing. They MUST have a coalition Government otherwise it won't work which means whichever party wins the election and get the most vote they need to play the violin for some religious nutjob more catholic than Pope.

Yesterday they arrested the "suspect" in the Ahmadi assassination saga but it is not clear how he may confess. We'll have to wait and see in his TV confession. Below are some of the leading scripts. Can you think of some more?!

It was Islamic Republic that first coined the term Velvet Revolution for Iranians. They were so afraid that they didn’t care what it really was or how it was carried out and under what conditions. Islamic Republic is color blind! Velvet, White (as in Shah’s White Revolution ;-) or Green are just different colors that they don’t know about but all have a revolutionary connotation.

I watched The stoning of Soraya M., alone and on streaming video online because no one wanted to watch it with me, too queasy. It is certainly worth watching because it is about an unjust and barbaric law of the land which we’re trying to abolish and told by one of Iran’s best actors, Shohreh Aghdashloo, it certainly would’ve had a better chance of reaching larger audiences around the world.

I’ve never done this and usually Nazi Kaviani invites people to write but I’d like to ask fellow contributors to write a piece about the remarks made by Shadi Sadr that ALL Iranian men are chauvinists and as a nation we need to overcome this problem. While this ALL statement may not be a complete representative of her remarks everyone is welcome to read the original article, I couldn’t find an English version.
