Islamic Tie

tie.jpg

Islamic tie is registered in Iran’s Law of Registration of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks. This tie look likes Ali’s sword, the Zulfiqar and the motto of “There is no hero except Ali, there is no sword except Zulfiqar” is written on it in Arabic.

Ruining My Surprise !

by ChoosoFeel on

I actually bought this tie when I was in Iran. I have some heavy duty connection and managed to get one of the original pre-production prototypes.    I have been waiting to show it off  in a formal enough occasion, perhaps the next Presidential inaugural, or something like that. I wanted to surprise everyone, after all it is not some hot couture junk that you can buy at Avenue Montaigne in Paris, La Rinascente in Milan, Fifth Avenue in NY, or Bond Street in London. I say this because I did look for it up and down Bahnhiofstrasse in Zurich to no avail !     What impressed me the most; that it is actually registered in the impressive “اداره ثبت مالكیت های صنعتی ایران “ , so no one can copy it. Have you ever seen the original Copper Aftabeh in Neiman or even the cheap copies in the China town.?    Well ... because IT IS registered. One look at their site ( //www.sabt.gov.ir ) should tell you why. Imam khomeini’s picture up there would scare the living crap out of any would be copier ..  not to mention the ministry of justice emblem up there ... Kahrizak anyone ??   Yves St Lauren, Channel, Dolce&Gabbna and rest of the Islamic Neck Tie Designer wanna bes should register their oh so boring designs here as well so their Chinese knock offs would not show up everywhere. Jees does Islamic Republic have to teach every little thing to the rest of the universe ?     You never know though, I am afraid the cheap copies would show up in New York and San Francisco’s China town.. They have already copied the matching sucks ( //e-wazakka.com/original_photo/jpg/tabi_2_x.jpg  ) .... God I am pissed. Imam Ali is surely even more pissed. Some Chinese guy copying his Love Spreading Sword design on a suck !!!!

Thx for the info. I was mistaken in thinking that it was Turkish that had made its way into Persian, not the other way around.

I remember how surprised I was when I'd first come to IC and read "Bosniak" words, e.g.: dushman (doshman), namaz (namaaz), hanuma (khanom), aferim (afarin).

the Ottomans introduced Persian into the Balkans.  Persian was the official language of the Ottoman court for quite some time.  I have friends from the Balkans named "Begzat" aka Behzad and "Faredin" aka Fereydoon.  I doubt cravat has any origins in Persian, but it is an interesting factoid nonetheless.

persian westender

by Rea on

We invented kravata, so it must be related to it.

Unless you, Iranians, picked up keravat from "cravate", the French for kravata (Croate).

It could be related to the origin of the word?

Etymology is always fascinating..

Rea

Keravat, you said persian westender ?

by Rea on

Interestingly enough, sounds very much like kravata, the Croatian (Hrvat) for keravat.

Linguistics is often amazing.

It does match with 'abaa'. But, seriously; at least they are trying to find a way to "adapt"; not negate and convict as usual.

This is an unusual change...

by Sargord Pirouz on

I've seen a lot worse. Myself, I go for the Iranian tieless look.

Perhaps the best looking tieless look was Saddam at his trial. Now that was a nice suit/shirt/tieless combo. Whoever dressed him did a great job.
