What is this Name Introduction about at the start of songs?!

Since a couple of years ago when hundreds of kids turned singer and remembering names got harder and harder singers started actually telling people what their names are at the beginning of every song.

It sounds weired to hear music play then guys name spelled out instead of his song. It's like starting to watch the movie "Farewell to arms" then Rock Hudson jumps in and yells "ROCKK HUDSONNNN" before playing.

The giant dangling hooks look scary!  I have no idea how the hooks are related to the song or love...maybe it is mentioned in the lyrics somewhere..
